Georgia Dale Cook Akin, 69, Columbia, KY (1952-2021)

Georgia Dale Cook Akin of Columbia passed away on Sunday, May 30, 2021 at Jewish Hospital in Louisville. She was 69 years old.

The funeral services for Georgia Dale Cook Akin will be conducted at 10amCT on Saturday, June 5, 2021, at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S. Main St., Greensburg, KY, with Rev. Brenson Bishop officiating. Burial will follow in the Green County Memory Gardens in Summersville, Kentucky.

Visitation is requested from 4pmCT until 8pmCT on Friday at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, and after 7amCT on Saturday until the time of the funeral service.


Georgia Dale Cook Akin, daughter of the late George Robert Cook and Ingeborg Schade Cook, was born on Tuesday, January 15, 1952 in Greensburg, Kentucky.

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Greensburg Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Georgia was also a caregiver and a homemaker.

Survived by her husband of 38 years, Thomas Andrew Akin of Columbia, having united in marriage on May 14, 1983.

Other survivors include a daughter: Dana Michele Estes; four grandchildren: Amber Kadence Estes, Aaron Caitlin Estes, Autumn Blaze Reynolds, and Jacob Ryan Kellogg; two great-grandchildren: Ellie Scarlett Kahill and Theodore Bennett Kahill; a brother and sister-in-law: Ralph Edward Cook and Ann Hoagland Durham of Greensburg; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Akin was also preceded in death by a twin sister: Ramona Gale Cook.

The family has asked that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Norton Children's Hospital, which can be made at the funeral home.
