Crawfish house

2020-06-10 - Adair Co., KY - Photo by Larry Clark.
Larry writes, "I was riding in the neighborhood when I saw this crawfish mound. The sight of it invoked a memory. When the government took our land in order to build the Green River Lake, my dad found a farm in Milltown, close to the acreage we had up on the river. I remember he would cuss those mounds pointing his finger at them, telling my mother how crawfishy that ground was. Meaning it was too wet and swampy. My father hated being moved from the place he loved. --Larry"

Partly sunny and windy today, storms expected, high 87F

It's currently 75F at the Adair County Mesonet station. It will be partly sunny today, with a high near 87F.
Special Weather Statement: Winds will come in from the south this morning ahead of an approaching cold front, and may gust to near 40 mph at times. Winds will shift to the west as the cold front pushes through this afternoon, with gusts to near 40 mph continuing to be a possibility.

Scattered storms are expected to develop along and ahead of that cold front around midday and move eastward this afternoon. A few of the storms may become severe with gusty winds and hail. Isolated tornadoes will be possible, with the best tornado chances along and east of the US 127 corridor from mid afternoon into early evening.

If you are in a mobile home or other particularly vulnerable location, you may wish to seek shelter in a more secure spot well before storms actually approach. If you feel you may need to go to a public tornado shelter today, the CDC recommends preparing a "go kit" with personal need items including hand sanitizer and cloth face coverings.

Thursday should be sunny, with a high near 79F and northwest wind around 7 mph.

Thursday Night will be clear, with a low around 56F and calm wind.
