An abandoned farm pond in GRL-WMA

By Wayne Baxter

One year ago (Nov 28, 2017), I came upon this small pond in the Green River Lake Wildlife Management Area. It had been partly drained when it became government property in the late Sixties, but still holds a nice pool of clear water.

All the trees in the area, except one large oak, looked to be less than 50 years old. A 1953 Topography map shows it to have been in a large area of cleared farm land. I wonder what it will look like in another half century.
