In Kimberly Clark's class, students recently learned to sing "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star."

Stephen Dorris II, Louisville/formerly of Campbellsville, KY (1985-2018)

October 6, 1985 ~ August 26, 2018 (Age 32)
He was born and raised in the faith of Jesus Christ. He was a graduate of the University of Louisville with a degree in finance. He was a gifted athlete especially in golfing and snow skiing. He loved UofL sports and going to both UofL and UK football games with his dad. He was the the son of Steve Dorris & Judith Shreve Dorris.

Melody Lynn Grider, 64, Edmonton, KY (1954-2018)

July 22, 1955 ~ August 27, 2018 (Age 64)
She was a native of Delaware County, IN and a resident of Metcalfe County, KY, at the time of her death. She was the daughter of the late Dunn Cook & Sue Price. Her husband, Floyd Wayne Grider, survives. She leaves seven direct living descendants. Her final resting place will be in Cumberland County, KY.

31 year old Columbia man arrested after vehicle, foot chase

Incident occurred at just after midday, today, Monday, August 27, 2018. ACSO Deputy Brandon Hitch locates suspect with outstanding arrest warrants in black Jeep on on Carrie Bolin Drive, asks suspect to stop. Suspect starts engine, flees striking another park vehicle, travels east on Russell Springs Road, turns on Christine Road to New Concord Road where he loses control, strikes tree, and attempts, unsuccessfully, to flee on foot. He was arrested, lodged in the Adair County Regional Jail, where he faces numerous allegations.
Note: An arrest is not a finding of guilt. An individual placed under arrest is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at some later criminal proceeding.

The Adair County Sheriff's Office reports that Monday August 27,2018, at around 12:07pmCT, Adair County Sheriff Deputy Brandon Hitch was at a location on Carrie Bolin drive attempting to locate a male subject with arrest warrants, when he noticed a male subject setting in a black Jeep acting suspicious.

KRS Systems investments earn $1.4B in FY2018

Kentucky Retirement Systems investments earn more than $1.4 billion in Fiscal Year Ended June 30, 2018. Gains Realized In All KERS, CERS, and SPRS Pension and Insurance Funds

Frankfort, KY - Kentucky Retirement Systems (KRS) announced today that their investments earned more than $1.4 billion during the Fiscal Year that ended June 30, 2018. Pension Fund Investments collectively earned a total of 8.57% and Insurance Fund investments earned a total of 9.05% for the year. KRS total assets increased to $17.42 billion as of June 30, 2018.

Investment returns for all individual System pension and insurance funds under management reflect the fact that the asset allocations and investments vary from plan to plan due to their specific liquidity, income and risk control needs. The returns for each System are as follows:

SOMERSET, KY (Mon 27 Aug 2018) - As part of Governor Matt Bevin's ongoing commitment to provide a modern and safe transportation system that encourages economic growth across the Commonwealth, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) has approved $217,000 in discretionary funding for the resurfacing and repair of KY 558 in Russell and Clinton counties. KY 558 serves as the access road to Marina at Rowena, a $10 million commercial marina development currently under construction on the banks of Lake Cumberland.

CPD alleges drug impairment may be factor in head-on collision

All parties treated on the scene and taken by Adair EMS to TJ Health/Columbia, KY. Traffic diverted from short section of Campbellsville Road for over one hour while crash scene cleared. Collision occurred near Grant Lane on Campbellsville Road, Saturday, August 25, 2018, when a 2006 Dodge Charger, northbound, struck a 2013 Ford Explorer head on in the southbound lane, Columbia Police Department Preliminary Report alleges. 2006 Dodge Charger driver faces multiple charges, including operating a motor vehicle under the influence of an intoxicating substance. CPD Officer Drew Conn continues investigation of the collision.

A charge is not a finding of guilt. An individual charged by law enforcement is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at some later court proceeding.

(Mon 27 Aug 2018) - Columbia Police are investigating a two-vehicle injury collision which occurred at around 12pmNoonCT, Saturday, August 25, 2018, on Campbellsville Street officers believe is result of drug impairment.

According to preliminary report, the collision occurred when 37 year old Tara Hoover of Campbellsville, KY, was traveling north on KY 55 and entered into the southbound lane of KY 55.

Maybe some signs on the main entrances of Columbia and Square that show "Historic Downtown", "Business District", "Industrial District", "Retail District" etc with handy arrows pointing the way? Castle Edward Wade, 74, Russell Springs, KY (1944-2018)

February 11, 1944 ~ Saturday, August 25, 2018 (Age 74)
He was a security guard at Stephens Pipe and Steel. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and will be accorded full military honors at committal rites at Mill Springs National Cemetery. He was the patriarch of a respected Russell County, KY family, including his only daughter, Kristie Wade of Columbia, KY. He was the son of the late Gordon Byron & Frances Ellen Childress Wade He leaves four direct and one step- living descendants.

Adair County Court Clerk Lisa Greer was contacted as to the final date for candidates to withdraw and not be on the November 6, 2018, General Election Ballot. It was her opinion that today, Monday, August 27, 2018, would be the final opportunity, as this is the day the Secretary of State is required to certify candidates to county clerks per KRS 118.215 (B) & KRS 118A 090 (2).
