Unemployment falls in Adair, Metcalfe, Taylor By Kate Akers/Kim Saylor Brannock Frankfort, KY - Unemployment rates fell in 74 Kentucky counties between May 2016 and May 2017, rose in 28 and stayed the same in 18 counties, according to the Kentucky Office of Employment and Training, an agency of the Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Cabinet. Locally, unemployment fell in Adair, Metcalfe, and Taylor Counties, and remained unchanged in Casey and Cumberland. Unemployment was up slightly in Green County year over year, and up more in Russell County.

Letter: Solid, scientific speculation on the mystery tree The Spoke Easy writes: So, the only story I know came from an elderly man who came into the shop. He claims that the site was an old farm homestead for generations. The tree was growing on top of a cleared hill next to the barn. Does anyone remember: Very unusual tree? The tree, a sugar maple, is on Lakeshore trail at Green River Lake State Park. It once had long lateral branches close to the ground, and about seven large vertical branches growing from them. It has most recently been stylized into the logo for The Spoke Easy Bicycle Shop at 225 E. Main in Campbellsville, KY. Lodge at Jenny Wiley reopens By Gil Lawson Prestonsburg, KY - State and local officals today held a ribbon cutting to celebrate the renovated May Lodge at Jenny Wiley State Resort Park, which is now open. A fire in March, 2016, forced officials to close the main lodge building, which included the park restaurant and lounge. The lodge rooms remained open during repairs and the restaurant moved to the conference center. "We are grateful that no one was hurt and the park was able to remain open over the last year," Tourism, Arts and Heritage Secretary Don Parkinson said. "The renovated lodge is impressive and should attract even more visitors to the park." The repairs cost about $1.7 million. They renovations include a new lounge, new furniture, wall covering, flooring, windows and kitchen equipment. Redesign work improved views from the lodge of Dewey Lake. Most of the work is completed.
