As most students are planning how to spend their summer vacation by filling it with days in the sun and time spent with friends, Shayla Cravens is adding one additional thing to her summer! In February, members of the Adair County Middle School Junior Beta Club traveled to Louisville, Kentucky, to the state Junior Beta Convention to compete in several different events. Junior Beta members from all over the state were there doing the same--competing in hopes of earning a chance to advance to National competition.

Preston Lee York, 85, Cumberland Co., KY (1930-2016)

He was a lifetime farmer and the patriarch of a large, respected family. He was a native of Cumberland County, KY, a resident of the county at the time of his death in Taylor County, KY, and will be laid to rest at McClister Cemetery in Adair County, KY, where so many of his family reside. He was the son of the late Andy Lee and Lula Vick Morrison York.

The Adair County Ambulance board met last night, Monday, May 9, 2016, and approved several major items, including the purchase of a new ambulance chasis, approval of the first reading of the 2017-18 Budget, and the renewal of the organization's health insurance policy.

Tony Bragg, EMS Director, said, in an interview this morning, that the service will save almost $50,000 by purchasing the new ambulance cab chassis separately and have the unit's "box" renovated.

Courtney McKinney was our Artist-in-Residence for the evening as she taught everyone how to paint beautiful wooden crosses and mason jars.

Many of the end results became Mother's Day gifts on Sunday.

Adair County High School is proud to announce continued growth and success on the recent Work Keys assessment.

The Class of 2016 posted a 54% increase in the number of students meeting and exceeding the benchmark score in comparison to the previous year. A total of 154 students in the Class of 2016 met or exceeded the benchmark score.

Proceeds go to Rocket Boosters PTA group, whose goal this year is to buy more, very much needed, playground equipment for the Adair County Primary Center.

The Adair County Primary Center's PTA organization, the Rocket Boosters will be hosting an all-day Spring Fling event and BBQ plate lunch fundraiser, at the ACPC 158 Col. Casey Drive, Columbia, KY, Friday, May 13, 2016, beginning at 11amCT until 2pmCT. BBQ plate lunches will be available for sale for either delivery to local businesses or can be picked up by anyone looking for a delicious meal that supports a great cause.

Each BBQ plate lunch costs $7 with free delivery to local businesses. All money will be picked up at the time of delivery. Donations are welcomed and appreciated. The meal includes a BBQ sandwich, chips, homemade dessert, and your choice of drink. Orders can already be placed by emailing our organization at acpcrocketboosters@gmail.com. Or orders may be placed by calling 270-634-3704.

CES students take field trip to Dinosaur World

Campbellsville Elementary School kindergarteners recently took a field trip to Dinosaur World, 711 Mammoth Cave Road, Cave City, KY.

Dinosaur World has more than 20 acres of land to explore. Students had fun at the fossil dig, gem excavation, prehistoric museum and many interactive exhibits.

CMS students visit Rauch Planetarium at University of Louisville

LWC women's tennis remains at No. 3 in NAIA Coaches' Top 25

COLUMBIA, KY - For the eighth-straight poll, the Lindsey Wilson women's tennis team is ranked third in the NAIA Coaches' Top 25 Poll, the national office announced on Monday.

The Blue Raiders grabbed 350 voting points this week as they are 18-4 heading into the national tournament.
