Remembers Baptisms in Sulphur Creek

Fish under Sulphur Creek Bridge, Taylor Ford RD

Virginia Kimbler Burkett writes:
Ed:I lived on Sulphur Creek Rd off 206 when in 3rd/4th grades. Attended 2 room school-Smiley. Walked across the creek on a footlog. Bridge there now. Baptisms were done in the part where cars forded. Is this the same road???Thanks for any response. - Virginia Kimbler Burkett
You're probaby thinking of a place at Ella/Goodin's Crossroads/Smiley, maybe in McGaha. . The fish picture was taken under the bridge on Taylor Ford Road, closer to the cities of Garlan and Columbia. The hole under the Taylor Ford Bridge is way too shallow for immersion and would be of little use to Baptists or Campbellites. The others, the more casual denominations, the Sprinklists, could hold a real good service there, I guess. -EW

A call for recycling units near dispensers

Vonnie Kolbenschlag writes:
I'm a believer in saving resources and appreciate the grants. I know that large containers have been put in the Walmart parking lot, but I do not see any places to recycle plastic bottles and cans inside the entrance where the dispensers are located. This would be an encouragement and reminder, I think, to recycle. I've peeked into trash cans there and see aluminum cans thrown away.

Birthday Wish arrives at 4:05amCT

Thanks to Judy Grant for spotting a most grievous CM oversight - we didn't have one very important celebration on the Birthday list! She spotted it in the wee hours notified us through the miracle of the internet, and CM was able to correct it - well before Thursday with CM for June 16, 2011, was tossed on most Adair County doorsteps.

She wrote:
Good Morning, Please add Ima Lee Grant on your today's birthday wish list, if at all possible. Thank You! Have a Great Day! -Judy Grant
Thanks! Judy Grant. It was possible and we did it. If we weren't so apologetic about our shortcomings, the public probably wouldn't have known we had missed this one. We've tried to have them all. But if you should spot another - or some more - don't hesitate to send it using any Contact/Submit button. We'll sneak it in as soon as possible and a lot of people won't even realize we sinned. They'll just see it on CM! -CM

A great man, Mr. Coomer, should be honored

- BROOKS COOMER Homecoming Reunion June 17, 2011
- REUNIONS

L.V. Turner writes:
I am not able to find the words to properly express the respect and appreciation for what Mr. Coomer brought to my life. He would take James and me home after practice, take us to games, and most importantly serve as a living example of what a good man is.

I know James visits with Mr. Coomer often, but I live away from Columbia, and that has prevented me from having that ability.

Nevertheless, I just read the article from Ms Hicks and wanted to add my comments.

Indeed, Mr. Coomer is a GREAT man and should be honored. He is one of the few people in my life that will always be on my "I OWE" list.

Again, I cannot stress the positive impact this wonderful person has had on my life...GOD BLESS YOU, MR. BROOKS COOMER..... --L.V. Turner
