ACHS boys Baseball update By Trey Stephens Sports Writer for Columbia Magazine Adair County Baseball fell last Saturday to LaRue County 2-10. That game came in the semifinals of the 2A sectional hosted at Taylor County. The team still sets towards the top of the region at 13-5. The Indians will returns to the diamond Monday, April 15, at home against Clinton County before having an away and home game against Taylor County on the 16th and 18th respectively. CPD: Arrest in vehicle theft case By Officer Adam Cravens, PIO Columbia Police Department On Sunday night, April 14, 2024, The Columbia Police Department was dispatched to a report of a stolen vehicle on Hanley Lane, just off of Russell Road. The following day, April 15, the vehicle was located abandoned and wrecked on Grissom Street. Officers obtained camera footage from area of Carrie Bolin Drive and Hanley Lane. After viewing the footage, the operator was identified and later taken into custody. Thomas Ray Harrison, 75, Adair Co., KY native (1948-2024) Thomas Ray Harrison of Campbellsville, the son of the late Hancil Hugh and Ivadean (Lee) Harrison, was born October 15, 1948 in Adair County, in the Knifley Community, and departed this life on Saturday, April 13, 2024 in Jeffersonville, Indiana at the Clark Memorial Hospital. To honor his wishes, cremation rites were entrusted to L.R. Petty Funeral Home in Campbellsville. Graveside service and interment will be in the Caldwell Chapel Cemetery at Knifley at a later date, with Military Honors conducted by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard. Purchase your ducks for the 2024 Duck Derby From Tiffany Collins The City of Columbia will be having their 3rd annual Duck Derby starting at 11amCT on Saturday, May 4, 2024. It will be held at the Russell Creek area next to McKinney Landing on North Highway 55. This is a fundraiser for the Columbia Trail Town, and proceeds this year will go to landscaping the sign at McKinney Landing and Pyles Point. Early this monring, the National Weather Service in Louisville issued the following Hazardous Weather Outlook for central Kentucky, including Adair and all surrounding counties: There is low chance of severe weather late this afternoon and early evening due to thunderstorms developing along a frontal zone.
