Blue Raider teams set for a busy fall postseason By Duane Bonifer Autumn is lingering for Lindsey Wilson University's fall athletics teams, and that's just fine with Lindsey Wilson Athletic Director Willis Pooler. Lindsey Wilson is one of only two schools in the nation that will be represented in all five NAIA National Championships from the 2025 fall season -- cross country, football, men's and women's soccer, and women's volleyball. The Blue Raiders' NAIA postseason competition will get underway on Friday, November 21, 2025. Some of the contests will be held on campus, while other events will take place from near the Lake Michigan coastline to central Florida. "This impressive achievement is a reflection of the strong commitment of our student-athletes and coaches to win contests at the highest level of NAIA athletics," said Pooler. "We are fortunate to have so many talented people representing our university. I'm looking forward to following each team and individual as they compete for national titles." Carol Perkins: Thanksgiving in Hiding Previous Column: Quilts for Heroes By Carol Perkins What happened to Thanksgiving? It's missing. Even the frozen turkeys are hiding behind the hams. Stores put pumpkin pies on sale, and decorations end up in a clearance bin. Did I miss the memo that we Americans are skipping Thanksgiving this year? My puny display of pumpkins, fodder, and bales of straw looks dated compared to the Christmas decorations in my neighborhood. Guy asks if I want to take them down. "But it's not even Thanksgiving yet!" I will reply. We Americans get over upcoming events before they happen. We're ready to move on. By the first of December, will we be shopping for hearts and teddy bears?
