Fay Roy Davidson answered countless questions in an interview and in numerous text messages. Every time I needed information or clarification, Fay always shared her knowledge.

Charles Grimsley shared his memories of the fair during his childhood. He began parking cars in the VFW lot at an early age, and his enthusiasm continues today working with the Adair County Fair Association in their efforts to rebuild the fair tradition.

KDFW urges boater safety over July 4 holiday

From the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources

Frankfort, KY - Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources game wardens will be increasing patrols across the state to help keep Kentucky's waterways safe over the upcoming Independence Day holiday.

This increased effort is held in conjunction with "Operation Dry Water," a heightened awareness and enforcement campaign designed to educate the public about the dangers of boating under the influence (BUI). The campaign facilitates a national focus on BUI detection and enforcement, aiming to reduce the number of alcohol- and drug-related incidents and fatalities around the July 4 holiday each year.

"Vessel operators decide whether to drink alcohol and boat under the influence, and many times the decision to do so has deadly results," said Maj. David Marques, assistant director of Law Enforcement for Kentucky Fish and Wildlife. "Our game wardens will be out on the water throughout the holiday to observe for those who may show impairment not just from alcohol but from drugs as well."

Letter: Trucks vital to downtown businesses

M (full name on file) writes:
I have sat and read how we need to keep trucks of the square for years, and in the same conversation I hear about revitalizing the downtown area.

I really don't see how you can have both, and I am sure the existing businesses, restaurants, auto parts stores, hardware stores, farm supply stores and any other that I may leave out are sure thankful for those trucks to be inside the by-pass as they are vital to their business.
