Shirley Skaggs, 87, Taylor County, KY Shirley Skaggs of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Kermit Hunt and Gladys Benningfield Hunt, was born October 31, 1937 in Marion County, Kentucky. She died Friday, June 20, 2025 in Campbellsville at age 87. She professed faith in Christ and was a member of Grandview Baptist Church in Hardin County. Shirley was a retired employee of Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville and had also worked as a caregiver for several years. Summerfest 2025 wrap up and notes of thanks By Kim Harwood, Executive Director Edmonton Metcalfe Chamber of Commerce Summerfest had a total of 37 vendors this year, down from 44 in 2024 due to the weather and illness. A total of 44 were scheduled for this year so in 2026 the plan will be to have clear weather and 50 vendors, now that is positive thinking! Every effort is made to reach out to the vendors to see how they did and invite them back. Most of the vendors reported good sales, down from last year but overall, a good day for them. Letter: Renovations on the Square Ann Pearson writes: They have a sign up that asks that trucks swing wide on the Square due to workers but why can't we just keep these big trucks off the Square all together? I mean they can use the bypass and it's less of a hassle for them than trying to navigate that Square and it makes it easier for cars. Russell County SAR helps find missing Eli woman From Mike Scales At approximately midnight on Sunday night, a 68-year-old female walked away from her home in Eli. After her husband was unable to locate her, he contacted Russell County Dispatch, who notified local Emergency Management and the Search & Rescue team was then notified. The team arrived on scene at approximately 8:30AM on Monday morning and through coordinated efforts, the female was located safely within two hours. With over 4,000 missing person reports filed each year in Kentucky and hundreds still unresolved, every successful search is a testament to the power of teamwork and community support.
