Taking a few minutes By Veronica Arnold While cutting hay or brush hogging, many farmers take extra time to protect wildlife. Yesterday while I was cutting I noticed a little fawn. I managed to stop and move the fawn to the fence line in teller grass. Of course, the baby kept running into the brush. This meant several stops to remove the fawn. I didn't mind, as the baby deer was so sweet and called his momma. Taking a few minutes to preserve life, totally worth it. I then left a small pile of grain near the fawn for momma when she comes back. Does seen in the field this morning leads me to believe all reunited and ok. 2025-06-13 17:31:02 | Comments | Printable version

In the spring, she was one of three students who received an honorable mention for the national award, which is presented to students who demonstrate excellence in service to their medical school, leadership and research experiences, and dedication to the osteopathic profession. Carol Perkins: A valuable legacy Previous Column: The new rug By Carol Perkins My father, Henry Sullivan, passed away in 1977 at the age of 62. I thought he was old, but I now realize how young he was. I've written about him before, but occasionally I'll think of something special and want to share, especially near Father's Day. A good friend told me about how she and her husband took their TV to my dad to have it repaired. He owned Sullivan's TV and Repair, which was the shop next to my mother's house. "I liked your dad," she said. "We'd talk and then he'd play the fiddle." My dad could do both very well. His musical talent, a gift from God inherited from both the Sullivan and Acree (my grandmother's) sides, blessed the entire family. My dad played string and horn instruments, favoring the saxophone and fiddle. These instruments are now in our son's possession. I was thinking about what a musical and artistic legacy he left behind.
