Letter: A public service announcement W. (name and contact info on file) writes: Recently one morning we awoke to our water spigot running wide open in our front field, which is easily accessible from the road. There is no telling how long it had been running, because the field was almost flooded. Trying to figure out who left it on last, we came to the conclusion that someone had decided to play a prank. We put a lock on it that day. Yesterday, we received a phone call from Adair Water District asking if we had a leak sometime in the last month, because our bill had doubled. Someone's malicious prank turned into a costly lesson. So if you have a spigot that is not close to your home or unattended, it's wise to lock it up. Apparently this is not uncommon in our areas. Hope this saves someone the unnecessary stress and out of pocket expense. 2025-05-16 16:42:30 | Comments | Printable version | See topic Letters and Reader Feedback

Tennis: LWC women advance to NAIA Semifinals Mobile, AL - The No. 3-seeded Lindsey Wilson women's tennis team punched its ticket to the national semifinals Thursday morning, May 15, 2025, with a 4-1 victory over No. 6-seeded Loyola (LA) (17-6) in the quarterfinals of the 2025 NAIA National Championships at the Mobile Tennis Center. Senior Anastasiia Ivanchenko delivered the clinching point for the Blue Raiders with a straight-sets win at No. 4 singles. Friday's semifinal against top-seeded Georgia Gwinnett will be a rematch of this year's NAIA Indoor semifinals, where the Grizzlies defeated the Blue Raiders 4-1 in a match that was much tighter than the scoreline suggests--every unfinished court was deep in a third set before the Grizzlies clinched. This marks Lindsey Wilson's 12th all-time appearance in the national semifinals, matching last year's run. The Blue Raiders will look to break through for their third national final appearance in program history. Friday's semifinal is scheduled to start at 9amCT. 2025-05-16 11:28:01 | Comments | Printable version | See topic Sports
