Charlotte Milby Stumph, 89, Green County, KY Charlotte Milby Stumph was born May 11, 1935, in Green County KY to the late William C. and Lilly B. Thompson Milby. She departed this life on Friday, April 18, 2025, in Summersville, having attained the age of eighty-nine years, eleven months and seven days of age. She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Hodges Chapel Church and was the organist for many years. She also served as choir director in Louisville and Greensburg for many years. He was 74 years old. Funeral services will be held at 1pmCT on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg St., Columbia, KY, with Rev. Tom Carnahan officiating. Burial will follow in the Haven Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4pmCT until 8pmCT, and will continue Thursday morning until time for the service at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home. State releases annual county unemployment data for 2024 From Mike Clark/Kim Saylor Brannock Frankfort, KY - Annual unemployment rates increased in all 120 Kentucky counties in 2024, according to the Kentucky Center for Statistics (KYSTATS), an agency within the Kentucky Education and Labor Cabinet.
The annual jobless rate for Woodford County was the lowest in the commonwealth in 2024 at 3.9%. It was followed by Shelby County, 4.1%; Fayette, Oldham, Scott and Washington counties, 4.2%; Bourbon County, 4.3%; Jessamine County, 4.4%; and Boone, Harrison and Kenton counties, 4.5% each. Wolfe County recorded the state's highest annual unemployment rate in 2024 at 9.4%. It was followed by Magoffin County, 9.1%; Elliott and Lewis counties, 9% each; Martin County, 8.5%; Carter County, 8.3%; Lawrence County, 8.1%; Breathitt and Jackson counties, 7.7% each; and Knott County, 7.6%. Howard Gaskins, 82, Russell County, KY Howard V. Gaskins, 82 years of age, of Russell Springs, departed for his Heavenly home on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at the Russell County Hospital. Howard was born on June 20, 1942, in Jamestown, a son of the late Arlis "Ted" and Opal Morrow Gaskins. Howard was a veteran of the US Army and served his country in the Vietnam War. Howard made a career as a carpenter and contractor, working for himself as well as other businesses. He was of the Baptist faith and taught Sunday School in years past. Howard attended Faith General Church. He loved fishing and hunting, especially turkey hunting. Howard loved his family dearly and loved spending time with his grandbabies. KSP charge driver in fatal Sano Mount Olive Rd collision From Trooper Jonathan Houk Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 15 Troopers responded to a single-vehicle injury collision on Sano Mount Olive Road in Russell County that occurred at 1:14amCT on Sunday, April 20, 2025. The preliminary investigation revealed that a Columbia man was traveling east on Sano Mount Olive Road in a 2009 Chevrolet HHR, with three juvenile passengers, when he exited the right side of the roadway and struck a tree.
