Carol Perkins: It never dawned on me Previous Column: Worn Boots By Carol Perkins It never dawned on me. At four in the morning, I flipped through magazines, tried to read a few articles, and eventually turned on the TV. Sleep wouldn't come. By 4:45, I forced myself into bed, pulled the covers around my nose and under my CPAC mask, and willed myself to relax. My mind went to what I had to do or should do the next day. Wednesday. I would try to attend Bible Study and choir practice, having missed too many lately. Then it dawned on me. Wednesday. Our church's turn to prepare the meal at Bowling Park. Basketball: Indians are 20th District Champions By Trey Stephens, Staff Writer The Adair County Indians Boys Varsity Basketball team defeated the Taylor County Cardinals 70-67 in the 20th District Championship game at home on Friday, February 28, 2025. This was this first District title for the Indians since 2018. Friday's win marks the 7th straight for the Indians, and 19th of the past 20. Four Adair County players scored in double figures to lead the Indians: Isaiah Cochran with 17, Connor Loy with 15, Dawson Gilbert with 14, and Lane Grant with 12. Cochran led the team in rebounds as well with 7, followed by Brayton Coomer with 5. Thanks in part to his performance in this game and the prior matchup against Campbellsville, Isaiah Cochran was named District Tournament MVP. The team as a whole shot 51% from the floor and 50% from three point range. The Indians were massively helped in this matchup by an amazing and loud home crowd pushing them to victory. Now, after celebrating, the team will set their sights on the upcoming 5th Region Tournament. Possible first round opponents for the Indians currently are Bethlehem (16-13), Caverna (16-12), Central Hardin (19-9) or North Hardin (18-9).
