LWC Nursing Seniors partner with area healthcare providers on research projects

From Duane Bonifer

The month of February ended in a big way for the seniors in Lindsey Wilson College's nursing program.

The seniors concluded their "Leadership in Nursing" course with a presentation of a half-dozen student-designed projects aimed at improving the delivery of healthcare in the region, then they visited with prospective employers and a graduate school about taking the next step in their careers.

The six quality-improvement projects presented on Friday morning in the college's Dr. Robert and Carol Goodin Nursing & Counseling Center were designed over two semesters to aid partners T.J. Regional Health and Taylor Regional Hospital. In the fall, the nursing seniors developed the projects in their research class, based on suggestions from the community partners, then implemented and evaluated their ideas in their eight-week leadership course this spring.

Basketball: Indians face Cardinals in 20th District Championship

By Trey Stephens, Staff Writer

On Friday, February 28, 2025, the Adair County Indians Boys Varsity Basketball team will be back on the court as they host the Taylor County Cardinals (23-5) in the 20th District Tournament championship game. Tipoff is scheduled for 6pmCT in John Burr Memorial Gymnasium, 526 Indian Drive, Columbia, KY. Tickets are $8, and can be purchased at hometownticketing.com.

This is a rematch of last year's 20th District tournament game which saw the Cardinals narrowly defeat the Indians. In the two teams' regular season matchups, the Indians were victorious by 22 points on the road and 5 at home. The Indians will be seeking their first district title in this game since 2018--a year that saw the Indians finish the season in the region semifinals.

Taylor County comes into this one off a 16-point victory over the Marion County Knights in the first round of district tournament play. That win marked the 6th straight for the Cardinals.

The Indians come off a dominating win over Campbellsville that was their 6th straight win as well. In their last matchup against Taylor County, the Indians benefited massively from a great home environment, it is only every four years that a team gets to play the district at home, so come out and support your Adair Indians making the most of playing on their home court.
