Basketball: Lady Indians top Lady Falcons 65-59 By Trey Stephens, Staff Writer Homecoming night on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, was a good night for the Adair County Lady Indians, as they improved to 12-10 on the season after defeating the Monroe County Lady Falcons 65-59 at home. After facing a one point deficit at halftime, Adair County was able to snatch the win on the back of accurate shooting, going 51% from the floor and 40% from three point range. The Lady Indians were also assisted by a balanced scoring attack. Three Adair Co. players scored in double figures, and 5 scored at least 9 points. Kinzlee Akin led with 21, followed by Ila Loy with 15, Allee Campbell with 10, Reese Bardin with 9, and Addie Bowman with 9. Campbell led the way in rebounding with 9, followed by Addie Bowman with 6. The Lady Indians certainly did not dominate the boards, but they did enough to get the win and performed especially well with the absence of Anika Jennings. This victory gives the Lady Indians back-to-back wins heading into a massively important 20th District matchup on the road at Marion County, with tipoff set for 5:30pmCT/6:30pmET on Friday, February 7, 2025, at the Roby Dome on the campus of Marion County High School. 2025-02-05 13:20:32 | Comments | Printable version | See topic Sports
Basketball: Indians defeat Falcons 88-49 By Trey Stephens, Staff Writer On Tuesday, February 4, 2025, the Adair County Indians defeated the Monroe County Falcons 88-49 at home. This now extends the winning streak to 11 games, stretching back to nearly the first of the year. The Indians were able to cruise to victory after coming out hot with a 13 point lead at the end of the first quarter, hammering the Falcons defense with 52 points in just the first half. By the end of the third quarter, the game had reached a running clock as the Indians further extended their lead to the 39 point margin which ended the game. This large win marks a steep contrast from the 2 point victory that the Indians were able to steal on the road last year against the Falcons. The hero from last year's game, Connor Loy, who hit the game winning lay up as time expired, also led the way in the rematch this year with 23 points. He was followed by Dawson Gilbert with 15. Isaiah Cochran led the team in rebounding with 8, followed by Brayton Coomer with 5. The team shot the ball very well, making 69% from the floor and 41% from the three point arc. The Indians will be back in action for their final 20th District game of the regular season, traveling to Marion County on Friday, February 7, 2025. 2025-02-05 13:17:04 | Comments | Printable version | See topic Sports
