Basketball: Indians host Knights on Friday By Trey Stephens, Staff Writer At 7pmCT on Friday January, 17, 2025, the Adair County Indians Boys Varsity Basketball team returns to the hardwood as they host district opponent the Marion County Knights (10-6) in John Burr Memorial Gymnasium, 526 Indian Drive, Columbia, KY. The Knights come to this game after a 60-68 loss to the Raiders of Hart County. In that game, they only managed 24 total rebounds and gave up some 34 points to Hart County Senior Trent Kohnner, who posted a career high. Needless to say, Marion County will hope to improve their defense tonight. Meanwhile, the Indians will look to make their shots tonight. They average shooting 45% from the floor in their losses this season, but 54% in their wins. The Indians have struggled to win when they shoot less than 47% from the floor. All of this to say, if the Indians can make shots tonight, the team should improve to 3-0 in district play and notch a resume-building win over an opponent that has already won 10 games. 2025-01-17 09:39:52 | Comments | Printable version | See topic Sports

Kentucky Color: I Challenge You By Billy Joe Fudge No! I'm not selling soap. In fact I covered the name of the company from whom I buy my soap. This is not only my soap, it is my shampoo as well. Red Dye #3, a suspected carcinogen for at least 4 decades, was banned from food in the United States yesterday. It was banned from cosmetics about 35 years ago but we have been eating it by the thousands of tons since then. Additionally and according to sources, over 10,000 additives are allowed in our food while less than 200 are allowed in most European countries. Consequently, and as an example, the citizens of Italy live around 7 years longer than do we in the United States. If Shakespeare was penning Hamlet today he would have written, "there is something rotten in the state of America"! Fifty years ago, a loaf of bread would mold within 4 or 5 days of bringing it home. Back last spring I found an unopened package of buns in the back of a drawer that had been there over a month that was as fresh and mold free as the day it baked! That is just not right, and I'm convinced that it is dangerous beyond our ability to imagine. No, I'm not selling soap and neither am I selling shampoo but I wanted you to see the natural soap/shampoo I use and challenge you to look at the plethora of chemicals that are in your soap, body wash and shampoo that you lather up with multiple times daily. Likewise look at the palate of chemicals that are in the food and drinks we consume each and every day. We can do better and it is time to demand those in all facets of the food manufacturing and processing businesses do better also. 2025-01-17 09:15:15 | Comments | Printable version | See topic Kentucky Color by Billy Joe Fudge
Basketball: Lady Indians face Lady Knights on Friday By Trey Stephens, Staff Writer At 5:30pmCT on Friday, January 17, 2025, the Adair County Lady Indians Basketball team return to action as they host the Marion County Lady Knights (7-7) in a 20th district matchup. Marion County comes off a 60-47 win this past Tuesday on the road at Hart County, that matches up with the 55-38 win that the Lady Indians posted over Hart County. The Lady Knights are led in scoring (most often) by Senior Mya Scott, who posted 16 points on 6 for 17 shooting in their last game. As a team, Marion County shot just 37% from the field and 33% from three in their last game. If they want to secure a win, the name of the game for the Lady Indians tonight will be to put up points. The Lady Knights are 0-2 on the season when their opponents score 60 points or more, while Adair County is 4-1 this season when they score 60 or more. Come out and support your Lady Indians at home tonight! 2025-01-17 09:13:48 | Comments | Printable version | See topic Sports
