Adair Co. High School Football Coach resigns

From Jason Faulkner, Superintendent
Adair County Schools

Steve Stonebreaker, the head football coach at Adair County High School, announced his resignation on Monday, December 2, 2024. He informed me and the school's administration of his decision to step down in order to accept the head football coach position at Danville Independent High School.

Coach Stonebreaker has been a committed member of the Adair County High School community for the past two years. During his tenure, he made remarkable contributions to the football program, highlighted by consecutive winning seasons and tying the record for the most wins in the school's history last season.

"On behalf of the entire Adair County School District staff, I want to express our gratitude to Coach Stonebreaker for his efforts with our football program over the last two seasons. He is an exceptional educator, an outstanding football coach, and an even better role model for our students. We wish him the best in his future endeavors, and he will certainly be missed."

I met with our football team yesterday and assured them that we will begin the search process right away. Our goal moving forward is to find the most suitable coach for our players and to build upon the solid foundation established over the last two seasons. I encourage our players to keep training and developing during this offseason, and to BE THE REASON WE WIN!

Travel: A day trip to Mainz

While traveling in Germany, the Arnold family took a day trip to the city of Mainz, the capital and largest city of the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate. While they where there, they visited Mainz Cathedral and a Christmas market.

Veronica writes, "Mainz Cathedral is catholic cathedral which has undergone many renovations showing Romanesque (original), Gothic (chapels and bell towers), and Baroque (roof) architecture. Of course over time, wars and fires have damaged this church, but the church keeps fixing and trying to restore that which was destroyed.

Besides a cool looking building, this church was a welcome visit to get out of the cold for a while... thankful that all across Europe, often you can step inside churches to get a quick respite from the weather."

You can see more of their travels here: Note: Click article title to see Veronica's photos from Mainz, Germany.

Tommy Druen: Leadership Kentucky

Previous Column: Dedication to the Journey

By Tommy Druen

In 2013, I had the privilege of participating in Leadership Kentucky, an organization that annually selects approximately 50 Kentuckians to explore the diversity of our Commonwealth and enhance their leadership skills.

I applied at the suggestion of a friend, but honestly didn't expect to be selected. Not only was I younger than the typical participant, but lacked experience in local or regional leadership programs, which many applicants had. To my surprise, the selection committee saw beyond these factors and welcomed me into the program.

When the class roster was shared, I'll admit I felt out of place. While I recognized a few names, a quick Google search revealed the remarkable accomplishments of the others.
