Veterans of Vietnam and World War II in my thoughts By Linda Waggener In just one week, the Vietnam War and the men and women it affected stayed in my thoughts. I'd had the privilege of sharing lunch at the Black Stallion with fellow Metcalfe County High School graduates of 1966, two of whom were Veterans of that war. Teddy Pedigo and Bill Blaydes spoke quietly of a few of their shared war experiences and then we remembered our classmate lost in that war, Billy Smith. He was killed not long after going into the war. He was the type personality to step out front when the going got tough. We remembered his nature, he would have gone in guns blazing, fearless, ready to die for America. Underrated Travel Destinations - Little Rock By Trey Stephens, published in the UofL McConnell Center blog where he is a class of 2028 Political Science major When you begin thinking about planning a trip, there are no doubt several lush, tropical, and popular destinations that begin to fill your mind. Perhaps places like the Grand Canyon, New York City, Paris, Miami, Rome, and a whole host of others scattered across the vast world. However, very seldom are many people going to consider a little capital city nestled in the south, a place called Little Rock, Arkansas as a travel destination. For most, Little Rock is a pass through to Texas at best, but in my humble opinion, most are missing out on a hidden gem in that regard. Highlights of CU Homecoming 2024 events Campbellsville University's recent homecoming weekend drew the Tiger family together for the Heritage Day celebration, victory on the football field, parades, celebrations, art exhibits, athletic competitions, performances, and open houses. Al Hardy served as the grand marshal for this year's parade down Campbellsville's Main Street. Hardy worked at Campbellsville College/University from 1968 until his retirement in 2001. The first-year head coach saw his team take a huge step in the right direction on Saturday afternoon. (RV) Lindsey Wilson defeated (RV) Cumberlands (KY), 3-1 to claim the Mid-South Conference women's volleyball tournament championship for the first time since 2021 and the tenth time overall. The Blue Raiders bested the Patriots across the stat sheet, including total kills - 54-51 - digs - 75-67 - aces, - 10-5 - and blocks - 8-3.
