Basketball: Brady Button Memorial Classic this weekend

The Brady Button Memorial Classic is scheduled to take place this weekend inside Biggers Sports Center. The Blue Raider men's basketball team will host Virginia-Lynchburg and Kentucky Christian for a back-to-back fight. This past weekend Lindsey Wilson came out athletic and hungry as they beat out both opponents by double digits.

Named for a former Lindsey Wilson student-athlete and staff member who passed away in 2021, the Brady Button Memorial Classic honors Button's academic, athletic, and post graduation contributions and dedication to Lindsey Wilson College. Upon his passing, Brady's family established the Brady C. Button Endowed Scholarship and proceeds from this weekend's classic will be donated to the scholarship fund.

Friday's doubleheader tips off at 5pmCT when Campbellsville (KY) and Kentucky Christian go head-to-head, followed by the Blue Raiders and Virginia-Lynchburg at 7pmCT. Then, on Saturday, the Tigers and Dragons open play at 2pmCT, followed by Lindsey Wilson and Kentucky Christian at 4pmCT.

Kentucky Color: Leatherwood Watershed

By Billy Joe Fudge

My Dad, James Ordell Fudge was born at Toria and grew up on upper England Branch. Upper England Branch is located about halfway between Leatherwood Creek and Red Lick Creek.

Leatherwood Creek begins at a spring a couple hundred feet from HWY 61 in Downtown Sparksville and empties into East Fork of Little Barren River just North of HWY 80 across from Mosby Ridge Road in Metcalfe County. Red Lick Creek begins at a spring just west of the intersection of Bear Track Lane and Chestnut Grove Road and empties into East Fork of Little Barren River between the Mosby Ridge Bridge and HWY 80 in Metcalfe County.

This put Dad right in the middle of thousands and thousands of acres of forested land and probably forty plus miles of creeks. So it goes without saying that he grew up hunting and trapping to both put meat on the family table and extra money to help with the family's expenses. There are many stories he told about those days which I cherish!

I remember him telling about a morning wake up call, turned reality check, from his Dad, my Pa Abb.
