Campbellsville University summer of outreach From Dr. Joseph H. Hopkins, President Campbellsville University had an amazing summer of camps, mission trips, ministry internships, church outreach, worship services, Bible studies, and prayer meetings. With over 7,214 campers from 26 states and four countries on campus, there were 230 life-changing decisions for Christ and 147 first-time decisions for Christ. And while student campers were coming to the Campbellsville campus, CU student teams served camps, churches, and programs in Tennessee, Louisiana, Georgia, Alabama, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Maryland. Poll workers still needed for Election Day 2024 Volunteers are needed to work the 2024 election November 5, 2024. A 65% voter turnout is expected, and 85-90 poll workers and some alternates are needed for Election Day to cover all 16 precincts in Adair County. BOLO: White 2017 Nissan Rogue Christopher Rowe has been in the process of moving to an apartment back in Columbia this week, and his homecoming was dealt a setback overnight. Chris says, "my white 2017 Nissan Rogue with Bourbon County plates was stolen from in front of my apartment building on Page Street in Columbia sometime between 6 pm last night and 10 am this morning." Chris says the vehicle still contained lots of boxes of books and comics that meant a lot to him. Adair rocks the house at Mark Twain Exhibition By Amber Hobaugh For 47 years, the Adair County High School Marching Band program has hosted a pre-season exhibition where area marching bands come to visit and to see how they stack up against other bands in their class before "Marching Band Season" officially kicks off. This year was no different as the Adair County Schools campus was filled with activity this past weekend with bands from Casey, Metcalfe, Cumberland, Larue, Boyle, Russell, Barren and Allen County Scottsville in attendance for the event. As each band entered the field, the crowd began to flutter with cheers and encouraging words from friends and family members. Eli VFD receives grant for New Pumper Truck From Mike Scales, 92.7 The Wave The Eli Volunteer Fire Department in Russell County received notification from FEMA that the department has been awarded an Assistance to Firefighters Grant in the amount of $428,571.00 toward the purchase of a new tanker for the department. The grant award is outstanding news for the department and will allow the department to replace a 1982 GMC Tanker, which is now 42 years old. The new tanker will be safer and more efficient to respond and better serve the property owners in our jurisdiction along with other emergency calls. Master Gardeners to host Pollinator Plot Tour on Tuesday From Nick Roy Adair County Extension Agent for Agriculture & Natural Resources The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife in collaboration with the Adair County School system planted a pollinator plot on the school grounds earlier this year, to bring forth educational opportunities for both youth and the public. The Adair County Extension Master Gardeners will host a pollinator plot tour at 5:30pmCT on August 27, 2024. The pollinator plot is located just off Indian Drive, on the campus of Adair County Schools. Look for event signage. The tour will last approximately 1 hour and will include remarks from guest speaker Jon Anderson who is an Environmental Specialist with the Kentucky Department of Fish & Wildlife.
