Long-lost friend found through Columbia Magazine This heartfelt appeal underscores enduring relationships formed along life's path, and the strong desire to reconnect. Linking generations of family and friends is a specialty of Columbia Magazine and we're proud to share that this letter resulted in a happy ending. By Linda Waggener After four decades, a Dutch man recently emailed a letter to Columbia Magazine on a heartfelt quest to reconnect with a family from this area. Joost Marseille, who now resides in Amsterdam, Netherlands, was embarking on an extraordinary journey to find the McKinney family with whom he'd formed a close bond during his childhood. His family got to know theirs during a United Nations mission in Cairo, Egypt, in 1981. Correcting today's event location from Spraks to Sparks Updating today's events in case anyone was wondering where the heck "Spraksville, KY" is located. Sorry about that error. If there is such a place we don't know of it, but there is a Sparks-ville where all the Sparks family came from and home to Mrs. Gladys Wheeler's store back in the day which is now a place of fine art.
