Fred Dickson, 97, Adair Co., KY (1926-2024) Mr. Fred Dickson of the Prices Creek community of Adair County passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Monday, June 10, 2024. He was 97 years old. Funeral services will be held at 11amCT on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at Prices Creek Missionary Baptist Church, 1636 Price's Creek Road, with Bro. Keith Sanders and Bro Danny Dickson officiating. Burial will follow in the Shirley-Dickson Cemetery, with military honors provided by VFW Post 6097. Columbia Christian announces new Early Learning Academy From John Davis, Senior Minister Columbia Christian Church This fall is the launch of the Columbia Christian Academy -- Christ-centered early learning for 3 and 4 year olds (must be 3 years old by August 1, 2024). There will be a maximum class size of 16 students, with 2 Teachers and 1 Aid. Classes will begin on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, and meet on Mondays and Wednesdays from 7:45amCT to 11:45amCT. Travel: Guilt-ridden letters at Escalante Petrified Forest By Robert Ellis On our travels we often bring back small stones/rocks as mementos of our trip. I was hoping to purchase some small pieces of petrified wood at the visitor center in Escalante Petrified Forest State Park in Utah. Unfortunately they didn't sell them. The park warns visitors to take only photographs, because 'Some say the petrified wood is haunted and removing a piece brings the taker nothing but bad luck.'
