Comment: The car may be in Burkesville

Anna Burton Murray called to say, "I think I've seen that car - the one pictured up on the sign post - in Burkesville, on the road out of town going toward Monticello, the road where you pass Don Franklin Auto in Cumberland County."

(Anna's Great Uncle Ed would have already been in the car to go and see it for himself if he were alive. - LW)

The Adair Train Robbery of 1892

By JIM

This startling bit of news appeared in the July 19, 1892 edition of The Maitland Mercury (New South Wales, Australia):
A party of robbers stopped a train in Adair county, Kentucky, U.S.A., shooting the police guards. They then forced open the train safe, by means of dynamite, and removed from it 8000 pounds.

The Carrington Gold-mining Company, Charters Towers, Queensland has been registered, with a capital of 75,000 pounds.
The incident, perpetrated by the infamous Dooley-Dalton gang, aka The Wild Bunch, occurred on July 15th in Adair -- Adair, Oklahoma Territory, that is. They shot two guards and two civilians in the robbery; one of the civilians died the following day.
