Easton Bryant wants to be part of the answer

By Linda Waggener

Scrolling through headlines on Columbia Magazine, I clicked on the North Century Pharmacy (NCP) banner ad and, instead of watching TV this evening, I'm watching Easton Bryant's YouTube announcement video. I remember the first time I talked to him a few years ago and Easton said, "I want to be part of the answer."

It seems right to have an adviser open to all types of healthcare, not just the 7-years-behind care that our country seems locked into. American healthcare gets among the lowest scores in the world, yet we spend the highest amount of money on it. What's wrong with this picture? I hope to find help watching and listening to his news. I'll let you know what I discover, and invite you to comment after you watch it.

New swing a result of businesses and individuals

Learning how to be properly prepared, how to plan a project and communicate effectively with others...

By Ty Coleman, Scout Troop 185

I have recently completed my Eagle Scout Project! I worked with JOY Ministries and installed a metal swing for their women’s and children’s home called Ruth’s House.

I would like to thank those who lent their time, resources, and expertise. This project could not have been completed without their generosity.

FabCo and Mid-State Ready Mix donated the swing and concrete.

Watts takes First Place in General at Governor's Cup

Bailey Watts was named a Grand Champion at the 2024 KY Governor's Cup State Finals on Monday, March 11, 2024. Bailey placed First in General Knowledge, an exam that consists of questions from all five testing categories (Math, Science, Social Studies, Language Arts, and Arts & Humanities). Bailey is currently a junior at Adair County High School. She is the daughter of Bridgette and Ben Watts of Breeding.

More than 15,000 students from schools across the state of Kentucky competed in this year's KAAC Governor's Cup. The pool was narrowed down through District and Regional competitions and the finalists gathered at the Galt House in Louisville, KY for the State Finals March 8-11, 2024. Governor Andy Beshear was in attendance to congratulate and hand out trophies to students who placed in the Top 10 in each category.

Watts joins an elite group of just eight ACHS students to bring home an individual award at the state level since the competition's inception 39 years ago. Other than Watts, only one other student from ACHS has ever brought home a First Place trophy from the State Finals.
