MCES third grader a Page at state capitol Tucker Wilson, a Metcalfe County Elementary School third grader, was a Page in the Kentucky House of Representatives last week as the legislative body of Kentucky's government met. While his proud grandmother, Representative Amy Neighbors, was serving in the House, he had the job of serving her and her peers as a young Page. The Daily Pages are between the ages of 10 to 18, so Tucker was an early Page at the age of 8. Susan Ann Nokes, 60, Adair County, KY (1963-2024) Susan Ann Nokes, of Columbia, passed from this life on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at home, surrounded by her family. She was 60 years of age. She graduated from beauty college and worked many jobs throughout her life. She loved being outdoors, enjoying the sunshine and warm weather. Susan loved flamingos and going to the beach. She had a contagious smile and enjoyed life to the fullest. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, and will be missed deeply by everyone who knew her. INDIANS WIN AGAIN! They are 5th Region Champs! Sunday, March 10, 2024 Update: ACHS just won the last game of the Region with a win over Bethlehem -- they are on to State! By Trey Stephens Sports Writer for Columbia Magazine The Adair County High School Indians won the 5th Region basketball championship today, beating the Bethlehem Eagles by a score of 80-62. This finishes the regional games in the Green County High School gym and the next step is state action. With this win, the Indians have earned their trip to the state tournament where they will face Region 1 champions Marshall County. LWC College Singers Spring Tour Home Concert is Monday The Lindsey Wilson College Singers are back in Columbia after a whirlwind Spring Tour, where they explored and performed in numerous locations in North and South Carolina. They will present their 2024 Spring Tour Home Concert at 7pmCT on Monday, March 11, 2024, at Columbia United Methodist Church. The public is invited to this free concert, which will feature an arrangement of musical pieces from their Spring Tour, and will include some individual instrumental performances by students. Columbia United Methodist Church is located at 202 Burkesville Street, Columbia, KY. The 2024 Spring Tour took the singers to Mount Pleasant, Charleston, Folly Beach, and Columbia, SC, and to Charlotte, NC. Cheerleading: LWC finishes 8th at MSC Championship The Lindsey Wilson cheerleading team finished eight at the Mid-South Conference Cheerleading Championship Saturday at Bowling Green Arena. This year's competition was comprised of two rounds. The first round was a preliminary worth 25 percent of the overall championship score while the second round was a finals round worth 75 percent of the total score. The Blue Raiders scored 70.64 in the prelims competition this morning. Lindsey Wilson then had a score of 70.38 in the final round to finish with a total score of 70.45.
