Statewide Tornado Drill on Wednesday

The Kentucky Statewide Tornado Drill will be held at 9:07amCT on Wednesday, March 6, 2024. This would be a good time to practice your drill and plan with your business, family and friends.

At this time the Adair County sirens will not be activated due to pending incoming weather and the consideration to avoid confusion with persons not aware of the drill. We conducted our regular siren test Yesterday, March 4, 2024.

Free Laundry Day for Parents

There will be a Free Laundry Day from 7:30amCT to 1:30pmCT on March 27, 2024, at Columbia Laundry, 115 N. Monroe Street, Columbia, KY, for parents who have a child enrolled in the Adair County school system.

This is first come, first serve, with limited spots available. To participate, you must pre-register with Family Resource, by calling Heather Dudley 270-384-9752, Kara Igbal 270-384-7617, Pam Bivens 270-384-9112, or Hali Anderson 270-384-6050.

You are invited to the Adair County Community Baby Shower from 4pmCT to 5:30pmCT on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at Adair County Elementary School, 870 Indian Dr, Columbia, KY (enter through gym doors).

This event is for expectant mothers and parents who have a child up to 6 months old and reside in Adair County. There will be educational booths about child development and child safety, plus door prizes, gifts and refreshments.

Boil Water Advisory issued

Date Issued 3/4/2024
Time Issued 3:15 P.M.

A Boil Water Advisory is in effect for consumers on Wordford Ace, 89 Shady Lane North Bramlett St, Callie Ln, Pickett Hill Road, West Barbee St, Hindman St, West Page St, Parkway Road. The advisory has been issued due to a main line leak.

Following such an event, the potential exists for bacteriological contamination of the water supply therefore this Boil Water Advisory has been issued as a precautionary measure. Until further notice, boil all water used for drinking and cooking, bringing the water to a rolling boil for three minutes before using.

This advisory will remain in effect until the situation has been corrected and test results have shown the water to be of an acceptable quality. For more information concerning the Boil Water Advisory, contact Lennon Stone at Columbia Adair Utilities District, 270-384-2181.

Ronald Lawless, 73, Liberty, KY (1951-2024)

Ronald Lawless, of Casey County, passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at age 73. Born February 6, 1951, in Casey County, KY, he was a son of the late R.B. Lawless and Sylvia Mason Lawless.

He was a Deacon at Valley Oak Baptist Church. He loved his farm and fishing. He retired after 34 years as a salesperson for Paul's Discount.

Tournament takes Indians to GCHS tonight

Tonight, Tuesday, March 5, 1014, the Adair County Indians begin 5th region tournament play at Green County High School as they take on the Commanders of Washington County High School.

Washington County has a 22-9 record this season compared to the 25-7 record of Adair County.

The game will tip at 5pmCT, so please make the trip and support your Indians as they begin the second leg in their road to the state tournament.

Ellen Zornes recognized for Children's Advocacy

On Monday, March 4th, at 2 pm in the Capitol Rotunda, the Children's Advocacy Centers of Kentucky honored Ellen Zornes among 16 others who have shown dedication to serving child victims of abuse.

Zornes was nominated as a Legendary Partner by Lake Cumberland Children's Advocacy Center (LCCAC) in recognition of her commitment to their center for nearly 20years. As board president, she has filled a multitude of roles within the agency and has always stepped up where needed. LCCAC staff says she has helped guide them through many seasons and deserves more credit than she is willing to accept for where the center is today.

Don Godbey, Casey County, KY (1936-2024)

Donald Gene Godbey, of Liberty, passed away surrounded by his loving family at his home on Saturday, March 2, 2024. He was 87.

He retired after 20 years from the United States Air Force, having achieved the rank of Master Sergeant, serving in all seven major air commands as Superintendent Aircrew Life Support. He was proud to have served during Vietnam and was dedicated to his country. After retirement, he enjoyed farming in Casey County. He was a hardworking farmer who thoroughly enjoyed being outdoors on his tractor that he truly believed was a bulldozer to improve his land.

Tennis: LWC Men knock off No. 16 Grace 6-1

The No. 21-ranked Lindsey Wilson men's tennis picked up its third straight win with a 6-1 victory over No. 16-ranked Grace (IN) on Monday at Henry Baughman Tennis Complex. The win is the second this season against a nationally ranked team.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 3pmCT on Thursday, March 7, as the Blue Raiders travel to Missouri Baptist in St. Louis, Missouri.
