Pamela (Pam) Thomas, 43, Campbellsville, KY (1980-2024)

Pamela Hazel "Pam" Whitlock Thomas, of Campbellsville, the daughter of Bill and Sharon (Jones) Whitlock of Campbellsville, passed away Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at 12:58 A.M. at the Taylor Regional Hospital. She was 43 years of age.

Green Co. awarded $1M in 2nd round of KPDI funding

Frankfort, KY - On February 29, 2024, Gov. Andy Beshear announced more than $15 million in state funding going to support job growth and economic development across 13 counties. The latest round of funding was approved today through the Kentucky Product Development Initiative (KPDI) and including local matching funds more than $35 million is being invested across the commonwealth.

The Green County Fiscal Court, on behalf of the Green Economic Team Inc., is seeking to complete site preparation and construct a 20,000-square-foot building at the Greensburg Industrial Park. State support will provide $1 million with the total anticipated investment for the project being $2 million.

Site and building development projects in Clark, Clinton, Graves, Green, LaRue, Laurel, Logan, Montgomery, Nelson, Pulaski, Scott, Wayne and Webster counties are the newest approvals for the second round of the program.

Clora (Lucille) Stotts, 89, Columbia, KY (1934-2024)

Clora "Lucille" Stotts of Columbia passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, in Jamestown, KY. She was 89 years old.

Funeral services will be 2:00pm Saturday, March 2, 2024, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg St., Columbia, KY, with Bro. Ted Stidham officiating. Burial will follow in the Antioch Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Saturday after 10amCT at the funeral home.

Please be advised the City of Columbia Planning and Zoning Board will hold a Public Hearing at 6pmCT on Thursday, March 14, 2024, in City Hall, 116 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY.

The purpose of the Public Hearing is to consider the following:
Request for zone change from R-1 Low Density Residential to C-2 Highway Oriented Commercial for lot located at 298 Hudson Street (PVA Map No. 000-02-08-021.00). Property owned by George and Joanne Payne. The purpose of this request is to relocate Little Lambs Learning Center from its current location to 298 Hudson Street.
The hearing is open to the public.

Tennis: LWC opens conference play at Freed-Hardeman

The Lindsey Wilson men's and women's tennis teams will be traveling to Freed-Hardeman on Thursday for their first conference match of the season. Thursday's matchups are set to begin at 3pmCT in Henderson, TN. The men will also play Huntingdon at home on Friday at 2pmCT and Grace at home on Monday at 2pmCT.

Mike Mills, 75, Green County, KY (1948-2024)

James Michael "Mike" Mills, age 75, of Greensburg, son of the late Ralph Baker Mills and Alice Rachel Rogers Mills, was born in the Exie Community of Green County on Monday, June 14, 1948, and departed this life on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at his Greensburg home.

He served in the Navy for four years, spending one year (1968) in country in the Vietnam War, arriving in Saigon for the Tet Offensive. He was a member of the American Legion Rod Lowe Post #124. He completed his degree in education from Western Kentucky University with a Rank I. He was a retired teacher, assistant principal, and principal for the Green County School System.

Vigil at LWC to pray for Campbellsville University

Lindsey Wilson College will hold a candlelight vigil at 6pmCT, on Thursday, February 29, 2024, in the John B. Begley Chapel, 302 Lindsey Wilson Street, Columbia, to honor Josiah Malachi Kilman, his family and friends, and to pray for the Campbellsville University community during their time of need.

The LWC family, Campbellsville University family and anyone in the the local communities are welcome to attend.

ACHS boys beat Marion 71-56 in first round of District

Indians next game is Friday night in District Tournament battle

The Adair County High School Boys Basketball team defeated the Knights of Marion County 71-56 in the first round of the 20th District Tournament Tuesday night hosted by Taylor County High School.

This was the third time these two teams had met this season with Adair coming out victorious all three times.

The Indians shot 52% from the floor, 18% from three, and 77% from the free throw line.

The team was led in scoring by Connor Loy with 21 points followed by Isaiah Cochran with 19 points.

David Lee Givens, 78, Green County, KY (1946-2024)

David Lee Givens, age 78 of Greensburg, Kentucky, son of the late Maurice Gifford Givens and Dorothy Katherine Cox Givens was born near the Caney Fork Creek in the Ebenezer Community in Green County on Thursday, February 7, 1946. He departed this life, 1.23 miles as the crow flies from his birthplace, on Monday, February 26, 2024, at his home, in the Ebenezer Community of Green County.

He appreciated each day of life for 78 years, two weeks, and five days. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Evelyn Parker Jones Givens of Pulaski Co, Kentucky. After meeting in Richmond on Eastern Kentucky University's campus, they united in marriage on Saturday, September 11,1965 in the Elihu-Cabin Hollow Community of Pulaski County.
