Indian boys basketball over HCHS Raiders 76-51

Indians head into Tournament action Tuesday night

Friday night the Adair County High School Indians Boy's Basketball team defeated Hart county at home in the regular season finale 76-51. This meant the final regular season record was 24-6.

The team shot very impressive numbers against Hart County, going 63% from the floor, 50% from 3, and 83% from the free throw line.

Austin Lee-Wausaukokamick, a senior theatre major from Tompkinsville, KY was chosen as the 2024 winner of the annual Lindsey Wilson College Idol contest. His winning songs were “Come and Get Your Love” by Redbone and “Rise Up” by Andra Day. The contest featured three nights of competition that showcased talent all across the campus. Unofficial exercise works into daily life

A brisk, half-hour walk is good, as are swimming or going to an exercise class. If you really can't find time for official exercise, however, try unofficial exercise. It can be done every day.

Treat yard work and housework as exercise. Vacuuming, sweeping, and raking involve arm and leg muscles and burn 245 to 280 calories an hour.

Take extra steps.

ACHS Lady Indians defeat Hart County 52-44

The Lady Indians of Adair County High School defeated the Hart County Lady Raiders Friday night 52-44.

The team has now won back-to-back games and is carrying a lot of momentum into the postseason.

Tungate arrested, charged with attempted murder

On Saturday, February 24, 2024 at approximately 8:14 AM, Campbellsville Police responded to a report of a stabbing on Buckner Avenue.

After an investigation, it was determined that 63-year old Larry Tungate and 53-year old Kimberly Brim both of Campbellsville got into an altercation, at which point Brim sustained stab wounds as a result.

Brenda Sue Brown, 77, of Columbia, Kentucky, died Friday, February 23, 2024 at her home.

She was of the Baptist faith and a homemaker, born December 19, 1946, in Blackey, Kentucky, to the late Ben and Virginia Hamilton Caudill.

Peggy Spellman, 69, Casey County, KY (1954-2024)

Peggy Marie Spellman age 69, of Liberty, KY, passed away on Friday February 23rd, 2024, at the U.K. Healthcare. She was born June 22nd, 1954, in Evansville, IN, a daughter of the late Clarence and Era Mae Goodman Snelling.

Peggy was a former L.P.N. for Lake Cumberland Home Health and a former employee of R.R. Donnelly.

David Edrington, 59, formerly of Adair County, died Saturday, February 24, 2024 in Greensburg.

He attended Kellyville Community Church and enjoyed hunting and his dogs. He was born March 27, 1964, in Adair County, to the late Edwin Russell and Darlene Burton Edrington.

Tennis: LWC Men go the distance in a win over ranked foe

Lima, OH - No. 17-ranked Lindsey Wilson men's tennis needed every match to upset No. 15-ranked Holy Cross (IN) 4-3 on Saturday at the Westwood Tennis and Fitness Center. The Blue Raiders (2-1) overcame a pair of deficits to secure their second straight win.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 9amCT on Sunday, February 25, 2024, as the Blue Raiders play host Northwestern Ohio at the Westwood Tennis and Fitness Center.

Tennis: LWC Women sweep 2 ranked opponents on Saturday

Lima, OH - No. 12-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's tennis beat a pair of ranked foes today at the Westwood Tennis and Fitness Center.

The Blue Raiders (5-2) opened the day with a 4-0 win over No. 19-ranked Indiana Wesleyan and closed the day with a 4-0 victory over No. 20-ranked Northwestern Ohio.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 3pmCT on Thursday, February 29, 2024, as the Blue Raiders travel to Freed-Hardeman (TN) for their Mid-South Conference opener in Henderson, Tennessee.

Man arrested for murder of student at CU

On Saturday, February 24, 2024 at approximately 12:43amET, Campbellsville Police responded to Campbellsville University Campus in reference to an unresponsive male. Taylor County EMS arrived and transported the male to Taylor Regional Hospital where he was pronounced deceased by Taylor County Coroner Daniel Cook.

The deceased, 18-year old Josiah Malachi Kilman, was transported to the Kentucky State Medical Examiner's Office in Louisville for an autopsy. During the investigation, Campbellsville Police obtained an arrest warrant for 21-year old Charles E. Escalera.

On Saturday, February 24, 2024 at approximately 5:15 PM, the Green County Sheriff's Office and Kentucky State Police received a call of a suspicious male inside a barn located on the Green County/Taylor County line. Kentucky State Police responded and located 21-year old Charles E. Escalera.

Escalera was taken into custody by Kentucky State Police without incident. Escalera has been arrested and served with a warrant for murder. He was lodged in the Taylor County Detention Center.

Tompkinsville student wins LWC 2024 Idol contest

Another Lindsey Idol is in the books, and the 2024 winner is Austin Lee-Wausaukokamick, a senior theatre major from Tompkinsville, Ky. The contest featured three nights of competition that showcased talent across campus.

Judges had some difficult decisions to make during the event, deciding who would advance and who would ultimately win. The competition started with 10 contestants, each with special song choices to present to capacity crowds at the Hodge Center.

Dana Lee, 69, Casey County, KY (1954-2024)

Dana Sue Lee, of Liberty, passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at University of Louisville Hospital. She was 69.

Dana was retired owner and operator of Dairy Mart in Liberty for numerous years. She was a former member of the Casey County Cloggers. She enjoyed traveling, playing cards, and bingo. Born on July 10, 1954, in Casey County, Kentucky, a daughter of Howard and Darlene Jeanette Ropp Lay.

CU ceremony, a 'line-drawing moment'

Dr. John Hurtgen, dean of the School of Theology, told the candidates for pinning and hooding at Campbellsville University's School of Theology Graduate Reception in the Turner Log Cabin recently that "ceremonies are about crossing lines and drawing lines."

"This is a line-drawing moment," Hurtgen said. "There are those who have begun a program of study, and lines that are being crossed."

Sarah Shetler, 59, Casey County, KY (1964-2024)

Sarah Shetler, of Liberty, passed away on Friday, February 23, 2024, at her home. She was 59.

Born on May 17, 1964, in Dundee, Ohio, she was a daughter of Rebecca J. Hershberger and the late Jacob E. Hershberger. Sarah was a homemaker. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, and spending time with her grandchildren.
