Virginia Bell, 102, Green County, KY (1021-2024) Virginia Odell Bell of Green County, Kentucky, daughter of the late William E. Durrett and Pearl Morris Durrett, was born on Tuesday, October 11, 1921 in Green County and departed this life on Monday, January 29, 2024. She was 102 years, 3 months, and 18 days of age. She was a retired school teacher for the Green County School System, a homemaker and caregiver. She had made a profession of faith in Christ, was the oldest member of Brush Creek Baptist Church where she had also been a Sunday School teacher. JOY Ministries Campaign raises almost $65,000 J.O.Y. Ministries concluded their annual Christmas Campaign earlier this month raising $64,606 since the end of November. "We are once again humbled by the outpouring of support from this community," shared JOY Vice President Hannah Peck. "We had a lofty goal for this campaign [$75,000] and while we may not have reached that goal, we are still so incredibly thankful for this huge act of generosity." J.O.Y. Ministries operates two homeless shelters and a newly open Crisis Resource Center (400 Greensburg St). County Clerk to be open 1st/3rd Saturdays beginning Feb 3 From Lisa Greer Adair County Clerk The Adair County Clerk's Office will be open on the first and third Saturday of each month from 8amCT to 11amCT beginning February 3, 2024. We are actively up and working on Kentucky's new vehicle registration system. There are some glitches remaining in the new system, but the Department of Transportation and KAVIs system are working long hours to correct these glitches, and it will get better. There are several operations that we currently are not able to process. Examples include trailers, campers, and historical vehicles. We ask that if you have received these renewals in the mail, to please hold them until end of February. We appreciate all the cooperation and understanding that everyone has shown during this transitional period. It is deeply appreciated. Adair Co. Grand Jury January indictments On January 5, 2024, the Adair County Circuit Court Grand Jury met and handed down indictments against 8 individuals from Columbia, Breeding, Russell Springs, and Louisville, KY. Charges included possession, trafficking, rape, riot, promoting contraband, sexual abuse, criminal abuse, complicity to abuse, receipt of stolen property, speeding, DUI, and assault. NOTE: Indictments are considered formal charges. An indictment is not a finding of guilt. An individual charged by indictment is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at some later criminal proceeding. Lanny Parnell, 69, Metcalfe County, KY (1954-2024) Lanny David Parnell, 69 of Edmonton passed away Saturday, January 27, 2024. Lanny was employed at Sumitomo in Edmonton for 35 years.
