Veteran Henry Wade to be honored Saturday after 79 years After 79 years, the body of Veteran Private First Class Henry Wade will be brought home to Russell County Saturday, November 18, 2023. A procession route is planned to be Highway 127 south to Jamestown, around the Doughboy at the public square, north Highway 127 to KY 80 to Wilson Funeral Home for honors by Rolling Thunder. Daniel Wilson writes, "The public is invited to be part of the service and encouraged to safely line up along the procession route, salute, remove hats and caps, hold flags and pay honor to this this Veteran who gave his life for our country and returning home after 79 years." Douglas Hoots speaks at Columbia Adair Chamber meeting Columbia Mayor Pamela Hoots proudly introduced her brother Doug, Columbia native and law partner with Miller, Griffin and Marks, as the guest speaker for the November Chamber of Commerce meeting in Columbia. Basketball: LWC rolls past Welch on Tuesday The Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team defeated Welch 96-47 Tuesday in their home opener at Biggers Sports Center. The women's team returns to action at 5pmCT on Friday when they travel to Pippa Passes, Kentucky to take on Alice Lloyd. A fast start coupled with strong shooting from all around led the Lindsey Wilson men's basketball team to a similar result, topping Welch 95-68. The victory snaps a four-game losing streak for the men, and earns them their second win of the season.
