Visit them in jail rather than family cemetery By Stacey Hatcher Bishop Mothers love their children unconditionally... Some of us Mothers have had to go thru things we never saw coming... Some see and chose not to see... Some admit it and some try to hide it... There is no hiding addiction for long... it will come to light eventually... I pray if you're reading this and your child needs help, do something... When they tell you they can beat this on their own... They can't... believe me I know... Cally stayed in rehab one week and she could do it on her own... She promised... One week later she was gone... Don't let my story become your story... Call the police (270-378-CALY) when they are behind the wheel under the influence... The nodding off, slurred speech, dilated pupils, the flu that goes away as soon as they get a visitor... I promise you'd rather visit the jail than the family cemetery. 2023-11-06 21:34:45 | Comments | Printable version

Love online auctions like Heavenly Hollow's today By Linda Waggener I have to admit that as much as I love to go to auctions out in the countryside, I'm loving online auctions. I've visited Heavenly Hollow's banner ad on the front page today and clicked on the items I'm curious about that are offered for sale - all online - I can attend the auction in the middle of the night, lol. Banner ads that pop in and out of the center news column on Columbia Magazine are great for special events and announcements. Just click 'comment' below and get the contact page for more information. 2023-11-06 11:25:47 | Comments | Printable version

Sharon Whitehurst: First frost musings Previous Column: Moving toward equinox, hoping for a mild autunm By Sharon Whitehurst Several days of drizzling rain, light winds, leaves drifting down. Strangely, a spell of rainy weather seems to last longer than the documented actuality. Looking over the notes I scribble in each day's calendar space, I note that we've had a mix of October weather; quite a few days have featured a sequence of sun and clouds. The black walnut trees at the bend in the lane are among the first to lose their leaves. The leaf-littered ground along the south ravine is a collage of colors and shapes.
