The Square will be packed with businesses and organizations passing out lots of candy and other cool stuff. The Adair County Fair Board folks will have cotton candy. Susan Graham, 75, Taylor County, KY (1948-2023) Susan Ann Graham, of Campbellsville, the daughter of the late William and JoAnn (Lively) Volk, was born July 5, 1948 in Jefferson County, KY and departed this life on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at her residence. She was 75 years of age. She was a former employee of Fruit of the Loom and Amazon and was of the Christian Faith. Susan enjoyed cooking, watching her TV shows, including the Hallmark movies, especially during Christmas. Haulin' the mail (1858 style) By JIM These days, when a short delay in receiving a package or letter sometimes becomes cause for venting ones spleen on social media, it's difficult to remember that in years past, deliveries took longer -- considerably longer. In early 1858, the US Post Office Department filled several pages of The Washington (D.C.) Union newspaper (and likely others, as well) with an ad soliciting bids for four-year contracts (July 1, 1858 - June 30, 1862) to carry the mail. The tiny snippet shown here (see photo) covers the three mail routes for which Columbia served as the hub. Wayne Emerson, 83, Campbellsville, KY (1940-2023) Wayne Emerson, 83, of Campbellsville, Kentucky, son of the late Tommy Emerson and Mattie McElroy Emerson was born January 13th, 1940 in Liberty, KY, and departed this life on October 26th, 2023 at Taylor Regional Hospital. He united in marriage to Ms. Betty Ann Allen on June 30th, 1973. She survives. He recently professed faith in Christ and loved gardening.
