Powder Puff Football Game and Survivor Walk Oct. 26

The ACHS Senior Class is holding a Powder Puff Football Game and Breast Cancer Survivors Walk at 6pmCT on Thursday, October 26, 2023, on the ACHS Football Field. All proceeds from this event go toward supporting the seniors on their 2023-2024 senior trip. Let's come together as a community and make this night unforgettable.

At halftime, there will be a Breast Cancer Survivors Walk. Nominate your brave survivors using the provided links. They'll get in for free to enjoy this heartfelt moment.

Will Clark, 56, Green County, KY (1967-2023)

William Oscar Clark, son of Oscar Earl Clark of Greensburg and the late Ann Whittlesey Clark, was born on Friday, February 24, 1967 and passed away on Monday, October 16, 2023 at his home. He was 56 years, seven months, and 22 days of age.

Will loved camping at Pine Haven in the summer most of his life. He was an avid race fan of dirt and asphalt. He owned a few race cars over the years. He also owned a couple lawn tractors for pulling.

Farm Bureau South office closed due to power outage

The Kentucky Farm Bureau South office is currently closed due to a power outage caused by last night's storm. They will reopen as soon as power is restored.

Betty Tucker, 91, Metcalfe County, KY (1932-2023)

Betty Louise (Asbury) (Ennis) Tucker, age 91, of the Center Community of Metcalfe County, Kentucky passed away on Sunday, October 15, 2023, at the T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow, Kentucky with her family by her side.

She was born on Saturday, July 09, 1932, the daughter of Roy S. and Chattie (Judd) Asbury. Mrs. Tucker was a Christian lady, attended the House of Prayer Church, was a nurse for many years, was part owner of Williams and Tucker Auto Parts, and was a "Memaw" to most everyone that knew her.

Household Hazardous Waste Collection on Nov 18

Residents of Adair County will have the opportunity to dispose of household hazardous waste items from 8amCT to NoonCT on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at the Adair County Road Department, 62 Service Rd, Columbia KY.

This service is provided by Judge Executive Larry Russell Bryant, Adair County Fiscal Court, and the Division Of Waste Management.

2024 Kentucky Ag Athletes of the Year application now open

Frankfort, KY - Kentucky student-athletes who are involved in agriculture are invited to apply for one of six scholarships and recognition as a 2024 Kentucky Ag Athlete of the Year.

Student-athletes must apply online by December 31, 2023. To apply, go to:

Watson and Familia named ARROW Students of the Week

Adair County High School would like to recognize Talon Watson and Kate Familia for being named "ARROW Academy Students of the Week" for October 13, 2023.

Both were nominated and elected by their teachers and received a certificate of recognition, a free drink from Indian Grounds Coffee, and their photos will run on the video announcements at the school all week. Congratulations to both students!

KELC: September 2023 Unemployment Report

Frankfort, KY - Kentucky's seasonally adjusted preliminary September 2023 unemployment rate was 4.1%, according to the Kentucky Center for Statistics (KYSTATS), an agency within the Kentucky Education and Labor Cabinet (KELC).

The preliminary September 2023 jobless rate was up 0.1 percentage point from August 2023 and was up 0.1 percentage point from one year ago.

The U.S. seasonally adjusted jobless rate for September 2023 was 3.8%, which was unchanged from August 2023, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.
