Big ticket auction scams are in the news From Kim Harwood, Executive Director, Edmonton Metcalfe Chamber of Commerce The Better Business Bureau (BBB) warns of auction scams targeting consumers in the area. Auction scams typically take the form of websites auctioning cars, boats, farming equipment, and other big-ticket items. The site itself appears legitimate and may even claim to be affiliated with the government. Victims register to bid on items, which may include sending a copy of their driver's licenses and other personal information. Jarrid Decarlo Smith, 47, Columbia, KY (1976-2023) Jarrid Decarlo Smith was born in Columbia, KY on August 20, 1976. He was the 3rd son born to Ruth Ann Smith and the late Jerry L. Smith. He passed from this life to claim his Heavenly reward on Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at Norton Hospital, Louisville, KY. As a child, he was given the nickname "Bam", a name that stuck with him all throughout his life. In fact, if anyone referred to him as Jarrid, no one knew who they were talking about. At an early age Bam dedicated his life to Christ at First Baptist Church, Columbia, KY. He was a graduate of Adair County High School and I.T.T. Technical College, Louisville KY. Bam had the biggest heart, and he had a great and abiding love for his family and friends. He was very generous with his time, helping anyone at any time, with whatever they needed and he did so without hesitation. Mildred Matthews White, 94, Campbellsville, KY (1929-2023) Mildred Matthews White, beloved mother, wife, sister, and aunt of Campbellsville, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2023. She was born on December 28, 1929, in Fordsville, KY (Ohio County), to the late Rev. RV Matthews and Anna Belle Clark Matthews. Mildred's early childhood revolved around her father's ministry as a Methodist minister. This journey involved moving around western Kentucky until her father's death in 1939. Her strong mother then moved the family of nine children to Columbia, to be near Lindsey Wilson College to avail her children, as children of the clergy, the opportunity to attend college. KSP Amber Alert: 11-month-old Legend Gibson KSP released an amber alert, including the Columbia Magazine area, around 10:30pmCT Thursday, August 24, 2023 for a missing child, Legend Gibson, an 11-month-old child with blond hair and blue eyes. He is missing from Clay County KY, believed to have been taken by non-custodial parents, Sarah Brumley and Dustin Gibson. Parents were last known to have been driving a Lincoln MKZ, white in color, approximately a 2010 model. George Laramore, 82, Green County, KY (1940-2023) George Forrest Laramore of Greensburg, Kentucky, departed this life on Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at his home having attained the age of 82 years, eight months and 22 days. Volleyball: LWC faces first road test at Running Eagle Classic The Lindsey Wilson volleyball team will head to Marietta, Ga. this weekend to compete in the Running Eagle Classic, hosted by Life University. The two-day tournament will feature nine different programs representing four different athletic conferences, including schools from the Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC), the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC), the Sun Conference, and the Mid-South Conference. The Blue Raiders will be no stranger to any of their opponents, and will be facing off against Life (GA) first on Friday at 12pmCT followed by Point (GA) at 2pmCT.
