Boil Water Advisory for Hudson/Greensburg Streets Update: Boil Water Advisory lifted for Hudson/Greensburg Streets From Columbia/Adair Utilities District Date Issued 8/21/2023 Time Issued 9:00 pm Following such an event, the potential exists for bacteriological contamination of the water supply therefore this Boil Water Advisory has been issued as a precautionary measure. Until further notice, boil all water used for drinking and cooking, bringing the water to a rolling boil for three minutes before using. This advisory will remain in effect until the situation has been corrected and test results have shown the water to be of an acceptable quality. These are the overall score results which are a combination of 60% speech and 40% ham. Maddie Wethington tied for 3rd place in the Overall 2011 Non-Smoked Division and Micah Ellis tied for 3rd place in the 2011 Non-Smoke Ham Scores. Preparations underway for Friday grand opening of Splash Pad From Tiffany Collins Master Magician Lance Burton and Miss Adair County Fair MacKenzie Bennett have been rehearsing for the Grand Opening of the Splash Pad planned for Friday, August 25, 2023. The event will start at 11amCT at the City Park on Fairgrounds Street, Columbia, KY. The ribbon-cutting is scheduled for NoonCT. Lance Burton will be performing a magic immediately after the ribbon cutting. He promises something for kids and adults alike. "I am very very fortunate that Mayor Pam Hoots asked me to take part in the Grand Opening. Magic appeals to all age groups. I hope everyone will come out on Friday to see the show and see the amazing new addition to the park." Grand Opening events will include: shirts for children as long as supplies last, snow cones, popcorn, cotton candy, school supplies, and more. Good news for Adair County EDA grant works With the first grant secured - Round 1 of $459,441 - Adair County is getting positive feedback toward a second grant that could help put a spec building in place on the build-ready pad. By Heather Spoon The Columbia-Adair County Economic Development Authority received word on Friday, August 18, 2023, that it is being considered for KPDI Round 2 funding. Michaela Martin, the Site Selection Group representative, stated in an email, "We are excited to inform you that you have been selected for further consideration for potential funding!" The Site Selection Group visited the industrial site in Adair County last fall when evaluating the EDA's KPDI Round 1 grant application. They were very complimentary of the Green River Commerce Park and community, and the EDA ultimately received the maximum amount of funding for Round 1 ($459,441).
