Tourism subject of Chamber of Commerce meeting Paige Nickel, Executive Director of the Tourism and Convention Commission, spoke at the August Columbia Adair Chamber of Commerce meeting held at Holmes Bend Marina. She said she is very proud of the work they're doing to increase income from Tourism through increased marketing. She announced the new economic impact data just out form the state which shows Adair County enjoyed the following Tourism income in 2022: employment 124 jobs, labor income of $3 million, state and local collected taxes $1.1 million, and tourism-related spending in the county $16.63 million. Jeff Feese, 56, Adair County, KY (1967-2023) Jeffrey Lynn "Jeff" Feese was called home at the age of 56, on Sunday, August 13, 2023. Jeff was born in Adair County, Kentucky on February 27, 1967, to Willie Matt Feese Jr. and Donna Ellis Feese of Columbia, KY who survive. He was a member of the Tabernacle Christian Church in Adair County. If you asked a hundred people who Jeff Feese was, they would all give you a different story. A hunter, a fisherman, an outdoorsman, the BBQ man, hard-headed, the life of the party, the black sheep, a papa, a husband, a dad, a son, a friend, and so much more. He was a fairly simple man who loved a good tune, turned up a little too loud, loved to tell a story that sounded way too crazy to ever possibly be true, and was uniquely himself no matter where he was. Traffic caution advised in downtown Columbia Drivers should be prepared for extra traffic caution starting Monday evening, August 14, 2023, from the Veterans Memorial bypass around the Columbia Public Square and up Jamestown Street to the Parkway. The highway department will be doing milling work in preparation for new blacktop. They will work from 6pmCT in the evening through 6amCT each morning over the next few days until the job is done. ACSO: Two injured in collision on KY55 North From Sheriff Josh Brockman Adair County Sheriff's Office On Thursday, August 10, 2023, at 2:44pmCT, Adair County 911 received a call of a multiple vehicle collision 6 miles north of Columbia on KY55 North. Deputy Jason Camfield was dispatched to the scene. Preliminary investigation shows that a 2012 Kia Soul, operated by Joe Grider of Columbia, passed a 2005 Chrysler van, operated by Deshawn Crowdus of Columbia. The 2005 Chrysler van then rear ended the 2012 Kia Soul. After the collision, a third vehicle, a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado operated by Jonathon Robinson of Russell County, struck the 2005 Chrysler van in the rear. Grand Jury returns indictments On Wednesday, August 9, 2023, the Green County Circuit Court Grand Jury met and handed down indictments against 6 individuals from Magnolia, Vine Grove, Glasgow, Mt. Sherman, and Greensburg, KY, on charges including possession, abuse, wanton endangerment, flight, resisting arrest, DUI, and receipt of stolen property.
