That was the point of the marketing presentation Thursday by Economic Development Authority (EDA) guest speaker Brad Thomas, Manager of Economic Development for Kentucky's Touchstone Energy Cooperatives (KTEC). The special lunch and learn event was hosted by the EDA at the Adair County Cooperative Extension Office as part of the ongoing push to bring more jobs to the Green River Commerce Park. Blood donors can give Tuesday at Columbia Church of Christ Trauma season has led to an increase in transfusions while donor turnout has been in decline LEXINGTON, Ky. - Kentucky Blood Center will host a blood drive at Columbia Church of Christ on Tuesday, August 8, offering donors an important opportunity to save lives at a critical time on the calendar. Tuesday, August 8 from 1-5:30 p.m. CST Columbia Church of Christ Fellowship Hall 501 Jamestown Street, Columbia, KY It's trauma season in Kentucky, a period of months in the summer when good times and good weather usher in an increase in severe, life-threatening injuries. Traumas like car accidents can have a major impact on the blood supply, and KBC is currently experiencing an increase in blood transfusions while donor turnout lags. Traumas can often require more than 50 units of blood for a single patient. Litter Abatement Grants open for Illegal Open Dump Cleanup The Energy and Environment Cabinet's (EEC) Division of Waste Management (DWM) is calling for grant applications for two of its signature programs, illegal open dump cleanup and the cleanup of litter along public roads. "These have long been successful and valuable grant programs for our local communities," said EEC Secretary Rebecca Goodman. "We are honored be a partner in providing for a safer, healthier environment for Kentucky residents." Litter cleanup grants are awarded based on a formula that considers road miles, total population and rural population in each county. For illegal open dump cleanup grants, counties request specific amounts based on estimated dump costs.
