He was a Christian man, member of North Main Church of Christ in Edmonton, and was a disabled veteran of the U.S. Army, member of the V.F.W. Post 6281, and a member of the local DAV. Omnibus electronic privacy protection bill in the works From Jordan Hensley, LRC Frankfort, KY - Technology once seen only in science fiction is now becoming reality. Some members of the Kentucky General Assembly want to make sure it's used for good, not evil. Bill Request 26 would aim to regulate the use of automated license plate readers, drones, artificial intelligence and microchip technology. The bipartisan initiative is led by Rep. John Hodgson, R-Fisherville, Rep. John Blanton, R-Salyersville, and Rep. Daniel Grossberg, D-Louisville. All three lawmakers testified before the Interim Joint Committee on Judiciary on Thursday. Hodgson called the potential bill for the 2024 legislative session a "team effort." "It's widely supported by the public," Hodgson said. "Nobody really wants the government or their neighbor spying on them, and that's the genesis of this bill." Hodgson said he the co-sponsors want a draft of the bill available to the public early to create a dialogue and make sure the legislation won't have any unintended consequences. Letter: Response to comments on Columbia Magazine Adair Co. Second District Magistrate Daryl Flatt writes: I find myself again responding to comments made that aren't necessarily correct. Anyone that has kept up with the fiscal court in the past few months know it hasn't been very cordial or professional. Since taking office in January the current administration has belittled and try to bully and strong arm most of the court due to not getting their way. Last month the court voted and passed a first reading for an occupational tax with the rate of .5% year one and dropping to .25% on year two. After year two the court would revisit and let it expire (which would most likely not happen ) or renew it with the same or different rate. Kentucky Color: Divinity of Procreation By Billy Joe Fudge In all my years of traversing the hills and hollers of the Great Wooded South, I am continually amazed by the discovery in almost every step! Recently, some of those steps were almost completely silent. I found myself walking through a mature stand of Loblolly pine which was a peninsula surrounded on three sides by mature hardwoods. The bed of pine needle duff was allowing me to travel in silent mode. Video: Divinity of Procreation Suddenly, from the hardwood canopy just ahead I began to hear sounds which seemed almost alien. Cautiously, I crept ahead. Was it chirping birds, a feeding frenzy, a murder of crows or some species heretofore undiscovered by man? I've heard squirrels bark thousands of times while I was hunting and working in the woods and that was the only associational past experience that my data banks could make. Yet, it was several minutes before I could creep close enough to see what was making all the commotion. John Douglas Milby, 93, Green County, KY (1930-2023) John Douglas Milby of Greensburg, son of the late Roy Milby and Irene Wilcoxson Milby, was born on Sunday, May 4, 1930 and passed away on Wednesday, August 2, 2023 in Greensburg. He was 93 years, two months, and 29 days of age. He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Greensburg Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He was a farmer and worked for Anaconda Wire and Cable Company. He loved fishing, watching NASCAR, and watching University of Kentucky Basketball.
