Basketball: LWC Men hoping for all treats and no tricks For the first time since 2015, the Lindsey Wilson men's basketball team will play on Halloween Night, as they host its 2022-23 season opener against the Bearcats of Brescia University. ACSO: Adair Co. man arrested on methamphetamine charges From Sheriff Josh Brockman Adair County Sheriff's Office At approximately 11:15pm on Saturday night, October 29, 2022, K-9 Deputy Chandler Staten observed a male walking around the area of a local business on KY80 East. Upon stopping to investigate he concluded the male was intoxicated on a controlled substance. Continued investigation led to the discovery of over 5 grams of suspected methamphetamine. Liberty joins Dawson Springs, Livingston, Morehead, Olive Hill, London, Stearns, Elkhorn City, Jamestown, Manchester, Berea, Columbia, Royalton, the Harlan County Tri-Cities of Cumberland, Benham & Lynch, McKee, Slade, Munfordville, Cave City & Horse Cave, Campbellsville, Irvine & Ravenna, Hazard, Elizabethtown, Morgantown, Park City, Livermore, Burkesville, & Hyden as Kentucky Trail Towns. "We are excited to continue to add these communities to the list of outdoor destinations across Kentucky," said Russ Meyer, commissioner of the Department of Parks. Treats on the Town returns tonight Reminder: The Public Square will be closed from 5pmCT to 7pmCT tonight, Monday, October 31, 2022, for Treats on the Town. From Ellen Zornes, Executive Director Columbia-Adair Co. Chamber of Commerce We are so glad to be able to have 'Treats on the Town' again! Covid knocked us out of it for the past two years but it's back and will be held all around our historic downtown Public Square. The Square will be blocked off from any automotive traffic, and we generally have around 1,000 kids that come Trick or Treating to this safe environment. Headless Horseman, Ichabod Crane still popular Way back in 1820, author Washington Irving wrote a little story that today, 200 years later, still haunts us, especially at Halloween. The Legend of Sleepy Hollow is set in the New York Dutch settlement of Tarry Town in 1790. In the countryside surrounding the town is a lonely and mysterious glen, feared by the superstitious -- which was just about everyone in the area. Among the spirits inhabiting the glen is the Headless Horseman, a Hessian soldier who was killed in the American Revolution and still "rides forth to the scene of battle in nightly quest of his head."
