KSP Investigating Taylor Co. missing person

Update October 26, 2022: Mr. Diego has been located.

Campbellsville, KY - The Kentucky State Police requests assistance in an on-going investigation attempting to locate a missing person. Pedro Diego, age 26, of Campbellsville, KY, was last seen at a friend's residence in Taylor County at approximately 1amET on Saturday, October 22, 2022.

KSP is urging the public to contact Post 15 at 270-384-4796 with any assistance locating Mr. Diego. Mr. Diego has been entered as a missing person and the case is continuing by Trooper James Ford.

Berean Community Fellowship Youth Camping Trip

Berean Community Fellowship just returned from their youth backpacking trip down at Camp Paradise Valley on Dale Hollow Lake.

The trip started put with cold frosty days and ended with beautiful sunny days. Getting the kids into the Word, fellowship and nature. Praising God for His workmanship and the family of God. The trip concluded with the whole church having the service down at the lake, like a church field trip!

2nd Boil Water Advisory issued

A Boil Water Advisory is in effect for consumers of Columbia Adair Utilities District for customers at 1172-2701 Hwy 768 East and Old Flatt Road.The advisory has been issued due to a main line break.

Following such an event, the potential exists for bacteriological contamination of the water supply therefore this Boil Water Advisory has been issued as a precautionary measure. Until further notice, boil all water used for drinking and cooking, bringing the water to a rolling boil for three minutes before using.

This advisory will remain in effect until the situation has been corrected and test results have shown the water to be of an acceptable quality. For more information concerning the Boil Water Advisory, contact Lennon Stone at Columbia Adair Utilities District, 270-384-2181.

Volleyball: LWC picks up a four set win at Bethel

McKenzie, TN - Where one win streak ends, another begins. The Blue Raider volleyball team, having entered Monday in the midst of a drought, rekindled its winning ways with a 3-1 decision over Bethel University, effectively halting the Wildcats' win streak after three matches.

The local's victory avenges a defeat handed down by the 'Cats earlier in the season in Columbia, and pushes Lindsey Wilson back to 0.500 against conference opponents heading into Tuesday's bout at Freed-Hardeman University in Henderson, Tennessee. The match-up with the Lions is slated to begin at 6pmCT.

Reminder: Last day to request Excused Mail-In Absentee Ballot

The period to request an Excused Mail-In Absentee Ballot for the November General Election closes on October 25, 2022. In order to vote by Excused Mail-In Absentee Ballot, a voter must request a ballot by calling the Adair County Clerk's Office at 270-384-2801 before 4pmCT, or by visiting Govoteky.com no later than 11:59pmET.

Excused Mail-In Absentee Ballots may be returned via the US Postal Service or dropped off in a special Secured Ballot Box located in the Adair County Clerk's Office.

Excused In-Person Absentee Voting
Excused In-Person Absentee Voting will be available to voters who meet the criteria for Absentee Voting on the following days: October 26th, 27th, 28th, 31st, Nov 1st, 2nd, from 8amCT to 4pmCT at the Adair County Clerk's Office. There will be no voting on Saturday October 29, 2022.

NOTE: Excused Mail-In and In-Person Absentee Ballots are only available to voters who will not be able to appear at the polls on election day due to one of the following reasons:

Tarter announces new Co-Chief Operating Officers

Tarter Farm & Ranch Equipment announced the appointment of two new Chief Operating Officers last week.

CPD: Man charged with wanton endangerment

On Monday night, October 24, 2022, officers from the Columbia Police Deaprtment responded to Grissom Street after receiving a call from parents who stated that a neighbor had pointed a handgun at their 16 year old son while he was walking a dog.

Officers made contact with a male subject at his residence on Pyles Court. The man admitted he drew a handgun on the juvenile, stating that he thought the juvenile was in his yard, before then stating to officers that he wasn't sure if the 16 year old was actually on his property.

Keith Gordon Miner, 55, Adair Co., KY (1967-2022)

Keith Gordon Miner of the Breeding Community of Adair County passed away on Sunday, October 23, 2022 in Glasgow. He was 55 years old.

Cremation was chosen, and no services are planned at his time.

OCC 2022 Collection Dates

Collection dates for Operation Christmas Child have been set for November 14-21, 2022. Once again in Adair County, boxes will be collected at the Wheet Fellowship Hall at the Columbia First Church of the Nazarene, 1200 Jamestown Street, Columbia, KY. According to Green River Team Area Coordinator Mark Fudge, the need for shoe box gifts is greater now than ever before.

"We want to provide as many shoe box gifts of hope as we possibly can to children and their families. I'm asking churches, businesses, and individuals to join in this wonderful global ministry. Most importantly we ask for your prayers," said Fudge.

Boxes can be dropped off at the Wheet Fellowship Hall on the following dates and times:
  • Mon, Nov. 14: 5pmCT - 7pmCT
  • Tue, Nov. 15: 9amCT - 11amCT
  • Wed, Nov. 16: 5pmCT - 7pmCT
  • Thu, Nov. 17: 9amCT - 11amCT
  • Fri, Nov. 18: 9amCT - 11amCT
  • Sat, Nov. 19: 9amCT - 11amCT
  • Sun, Nov. 20: 1pmCT - 3pmCT
  • Mon, Nov. 21: 9amCT - 11amCT
It's a very simple process, according to Fudge. "Take an Empty shoe box from your closet or order some from Samaritanpurse.org/occ. Then fill the box with fun toys, school supplies, sunglasses, and hygiene items like soap, wash cloths and tooth brushes. You can include your photo and a note to the child to really make the gift special, then bring your shoebox gift to the Wheet Fellowship Hall along with a $10 donation for shipping during national collection week November 14-21. It's so vey important to pray for the child that will receive your box.
