Eugene Melson, 90, Columbia, KY (1932-2022) Eugene Melson of Columbia died on Thursday, October 6, 2022 at 12:40 A.M. at Ephraim McDowell Hospital in Danville. He was 90 years old. The funeral service will be held at 10amCT on Thursday, October 13, 2022 at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Donald Clark officiating. Quarles urges EPA not to severely restrict use of corn herbicide From Lisa Tolliver Frankfort, KY - Kentucky Commissioner of Agriculture Dr. Ryan Quarles submitted comments this week on behalf of more than 75,000 Kentucky farm families he represents to Michael S. Regan, head of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), concerning the herbicide atrazine. EPA is proposing to severely limit atrazine levels within watershed areas from the current 15 parts per billion (ppb) to 3.4 ppb, which Commissioner Quarles called "overly restrictive." Law enforcement will conduct a high-visibility enforcement campaign, emphasizing seat belt use, from October 7, 2022, through October 10, 2022, to save lives and prevent injuries due to traffic crashes. "While drivers can never control who they share the road with, one thing within everyone's control is the decision to buckle up and put the phone down every time you get in a vehicle to keep you, and others safe," said Gov. KSP: Investigation of fatal collision on US68 in Marion Co. From Trooper Jonathan Houk Lebanon, KY - On October 6, 2022 at approximately 10:58amET, Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 15 Troopers responded to a two-vehicle injury collision on US 68 in Marion County. The preliminary investigation revealed that Matthew Brady, age 32, of Lebanon, was traveling west on US 68 in a 2015 Nissan Sentra when he crossed the centerline and struck a 2011 Lexus SUV traveling east on US 68 head-on. The Lexus SUV was being operated by Timothy Mays, age 46, of Campbellsville.
