City requests ARPA applications by Noon on Friday

The City of Columbia has requested that all applications for the grant program through ARPA (American Rescue Plan Act) be submitted by NoonCT on Friday, October 7, 2022.

The ARPA board that reviews and authorizes the allocation of funding will be meeting. All applications that would like to be considered are to be turned in to Mayor's Office by Friday.

Please call City Hall at 270-384-2501 with any questions.

Reminder: Submit works for Adair County Art Exhibit Fri/Sat

Artworks for exhibit in the upcoming Adair County Art Exhibit should be delivered to the Lucrecia C. Begley Gallery in the Slider Building at Lindsey Wilson College on Friday, October 7, between 10amCT and 4pmCT, or between 10amCT and NoonCT on Saturday, October 8, 2022. Artists will be notified by October 10, 2022 for acceptance in exhibit.

Tabernacle Christian Church Homecoming is Oct 23

Homecoming Services at Tabernacle Christian Church will be on Sunday, October 23, 2022. Sunday School begins at 9:30amCT, and Bobby Lee will be performing a Piano Concert for the morning worship service beginning at 10:20amCT. A pot luck meal will follow immediately in the basement fellowship hall.

Bro Terry White and the entire congregation invite everyone to come join us for a day of praising the Lord and fellowship. Tabernacle Christian Church is located at 13175 Liberty Road, Columbia, KY.

Schedule for 19th Annual Downtown Days

The City of Columbia will be closing the Public Square at NoonCT on Friday, October 7, 2022, through Saturday, October 8, 2022, for the 19th Annual Downtown Days.

Friday will kick off with vendor booths, kiddie rides, corn hole competitions, and live music by No Deceit and County-Wide. Saturday will bring a pancake breakfast, car and tractor shows, more kiddie rides, beauty pageants, a dog parade, and tons more live music.

Hubert (Butch) Stanley Stone, 77, Green Co., KY (1945-2022)

Hubert Stanley "Butch" Stone of Green County passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2022 at the Green Hill Rehab & Care Center. He was 77 years old.

The funeral service arrangements for Hubert Stanley "Butch" Stone are incomplete at this time, but Bro. Bobby Neal will officiate, and details will be announced later by the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home.

Adair Co. 4-H Program: A Year in Review

National 4-H Week is October 2-8, 2022. This year's theme is Opportunity4All, shining a light on access and equity for all youth. Young people have power, and 4-H believes that every young person has valuable strengths and real influence to improve our world.

2021-22 was a very busy year for the Adair County 4-H program. During the past year there were 2000 youth who were enrolled I 4-H activities. Youth from ages 6-19 years old were involved in the 4-H program. Many of these club were in school club and the Shooting Sports, Livestock, and Clover Buds, Leadership, just to name a few.

During the year there were several activities for youth to be involved in. Some of the activities were: Livestock Projects, Shooting Sports, County and State Fair exhibits, and the Country Ham Project.

Golf: LWC Men claim 3rd straight victory at Music City Invite

Nashville, TN - The Lindsey Wilson men's golf team rolled to their third win in as many tournaments this season after finishing in first place at the Music City Invitational. Callum Waugh and Rio Saigal won the individual title after the pair finished in a tie for first place.

Waugh and Saigal both produced 216 strokes over the three rounds. Waugh, who competed as an individual, carded a 69-77-70 while Saigal posted a 70-71-75. The pair played the par-4's the best in the field at even and one-over, respectfully. Both managed the second most birdies in the field with 12.

The Blue Raiders dominated the field scoring 875 (294-293-288), winning the event by 20-strokes over second place Campbellsville University, who finished with a score of 895 (297-302-296). Lindsey Wilson finished the event with five Blue Raiders inside the top-10, including the top-3 spots, and held the lowest scoring averages on all three hole designs.
