Creason at Chapel: Finding Community in Christ

By Simon Baker

Campbellsville, KY - Trent Creason, Campbellsville University's campus minister, invited two football players on stage to share the message of passing through barriers in life and throughout college at Campbellsville University recently in Ransdell Chapel.

Creason read from Luke 5:18-25, the story of how Christ not only noticed a paralyzed man but healed him as well. The ideas of community, practicing hospitality toward others and being transformed by Christ were the main focal points of his address.

Letter: Enjoyed article about Bakery

Ann Curtis writes:
How neat that Columbia once had a bakery! Wouldn't it be nice if it still did! In all of my years of growing up there, I never noticed the "Bakery" sign on that building.

Ralph Roy's piece was very informative, and amusing, too. I enjoyed reading about my first cousins, Sammy Sandusky and Charles Sandusky.

Charles was a very talented, meticulous carpenter, and later architectural inspector. My father, David Heskamp, used to say that he'd hate to be the builder of a building Charles inspected, because it would most certainly have to be perfect!

I remember when EP had a store there that sold bikes. Nice memories of my little town.

Sherry Brown spreading the word about DoorDash in Edmonton

By Pen Waggener

DoorDash, the biggest of the services that provide online ordering and a network of delivery drivers to connect restaurants and customers, sprung to national prominence during the early days of the pandemic. But the gig economy often relies on population density to be efficient, and online delivery services have been somewhat slow to roll out in southern Kentucky.

In Columbia, Daniel Hedges worked to expand participating restaurants through a campaign of "promotion, phone calls, emails, and communication with DoorDash." As a result of the efforts of Daniel and others, options in downtown Columbia on September 16, 2022, include Dairy Queen, Sonic, Burger King, Tray's Garden, Pizza Hut, and some of the local gas stations, plus CVS, Dollar General, and Tractor Supply.

Sherry Brown, who has been delivering food for DoorDash since November 2021, is excited to see options for delivery start to come online in Edmonton. Options in Edmonton on September 16, 2022 include Dollar General, Walgreens, and McDonalds.

Carol Perkins: The Case of the Missing Keys

Previous Column: Guess What's Wrong

By Carol Perkins

I watched as the driver eased my vehicle onto the flatbed tow truck. My SUV was being towed, but not because of an accident. Not because of a dead battery. That would have been less embarrassing.

That Saturday morning, I attended a meeting at the First Baptist Church in Bowling Green concerning the Samaritan Purse Shoebox Mission, having recently volunteered to be our local coordinator. I was pumped up about the possibilities, but before going home, I stopped at a consignment shop on the by-pass.

As soon as I stepped out of my SUV, a panhandler approached me, whom I blamed for my being unhinged.
