College students getting help at CU to find their calling

By Chosalin Morales, student news writer and photographer,
Office of University Communications

Campbellsville, KY: "I'm a planner. I knew what I wanted. I didn't have to question it, but I do encourage my students to come to this event because sometimes they don't know what they want to do when they come to CU.

"Which, if we can detail and explain what kind of jobs these majors have to offer, we get more students to come to these events and get insights on majors," Madison Duncan, a 2019 Campbellsville University graduate student, who is director of business outcomes assessment and advising for the university's School of Business, Economics and Technology.

Damage from last week's storm

2022-06-27 - Adair County, KY - Photo by Jackie Montgomery.
This is an example of the storm damage received in the Sano area of Adair County last week. In addition, the high winds blew down trees, limbs and branches causing several roads to be closed for removal of debris. I discovered several good size branches down along my fence line and will need someone to cut and move them. - Jackie

Circuit Clerks committed to organ donor registry and education

Despite changes to the driver's licensing process in the state, Kentucky's Circuit Court Clerks remain deeply committed to the mission of organ donation and transplantation.

The Circuit Clerk's created the Trust For Life (TFL), a 501c3 non-profit organization, in 1992.

The Circuit Clerks chose to raise dollar donations for education about the vital need for organ donation when the mission was not as commonly discussed as it is today. Since then, the TFL has raised and invested over $18 million dollars in organ donation education in Kentucky.

"We are proud of the work we've done since 1992, and we know our support must continue. Although we are no longer legally required to ask about the Registry and dollar donations because we no longer issue licenses, we see the need in our communities and want to help. Today, nearly 1,000 Kentuckians are waiting for a lifesaving organ transplant. Across America, 20 people die each day due to this need," shares Dennis Loy, Adair Co. Circuit Clerk.

There are no age or health limits, so everyone can register as a lifesaving donor. For more information about organ, tissue and cornea donation or to register as a donor, please visit donatelifeky.org.

Letter: Remembering Joseph Payne

Marjorie Payne writes:
My sons and I appreciate the City of Columbia and Mayor Hoots and all those involved with recognizing the citizens of Columbia/Adair county for their military service. Not only was Joe proud of his military service but he was a proud Adair Countian. To see his picture hanging there in the city, as if he's watching what's going on is wonderful!

His legacy will live on, in the work that he did for his beloved community. He was always willing to help those in need. All the committees and boards he served on was impacted by his dedication. His most proud accomplishment was founding the Agape House Pregnancy Resource Center and to see that it is still going strong and helping those in need is very rewarding! Again, thank you Adair Community, Mayor Hoots and you Linda for always being there for the Payne family! -Marjorie

Remembering Marsha on our anniversary

By James Roberts

Happy 36th anniversary on June 27th to my one true love, Marsha Roberts.
We miss you more than words can say. But I know we'll be together again some day.
I dream often that you have came back here. Then I awaken and know that you're not near.
Rejoice with the angels for where you are. Then I realize you're not that far.
We took the vows until death do us part. But I knew where you were from the start.

Rest now my love until we never part. --James Roberts
