Missing in Adair: At 5pm 4/11/22 I came home from work and my gate was open and 2 dogs were gone. I found one. But this one is missing - he’s about 95 pounds, shep husky mix, goes by Diesel, he’s wearing a neon green collar with a big blue tag hanging on it. May seem mean and scary but he’s just a big fat baby. Please help me bring him home. Email gluck63@icloud.com if found.

KY Individual income tax filing deadline is April 18

Frankfort, KY - The Kentucky Department of Revenue (DOR) reminds taxpayers that the 2021 state individual income tax filing deadline is coming up on Monday, April 18, 2022.

This year's April 18 deadline affords Kentucky taxpayers a few extra days to complete their tax returns due to the Emancipation Day holiday in Washington D.C. on Friday, April 15.

Individual taxpayers have until Monday, April 18, 2022, to submit Kentucky individual income tax returns and payments for the 2021 tax year without accruing penalties and interest. Individual taxpayers are encouraged to pay in full any taxes owed by the filing deadline to avoid interest and penalties, which will begin to accrue on any remaining unpaid balances after April 18, 2022, regardless of the amount owed.

Deadline to enroll in Little Indians Summer Academy

Reminder that the DEADLINE for enrollment in the Little Indians Summer Academy at Adair County Primary Center is April 27, 2022.

Little Indians Summer Academy is a free summer learning program that will take place Monday through Thursday from June 6-30, 2022, designed to build confidence and academic strength for students completing grades K-2 at Adair County Primary Center.

Original watercolor of Adair Co. Courthouse to be auctioned

Edmonton Metcalfe County Chamber of Commerce

Due to the lost of revenue from the 2020 and 2021 Metcalfe County Pumpkin Festival, the Edmonton Metcalfe County Chamber of Commerce will conduct a Spring Radio Auction Fundraiser on 99.1 on Monday, April 25, 2022, and Tuesday, April 26, 2022, from 5pmCT until 8pmCT. Donations may be dropped off at the Edmonton Metcalfe County Chamber Office, 109 E. Stockton St, Edmonton, KY.

Included in the items for sale in the auction is a one of a kind original watercolor painting of the Columbia Courthouse by Metcalfe County Artist the late Jeannie Spears. The painting was done specifically for the Sumitomo Electric Wiring System, Inc. facility opening in 1988.

Sunrise Service at Cane Valley Christian Church

Cane Valley Christian Church will be having a Sunrise service at 6amCT on Easter Sunday, April 17, 2022. There will be a breakfast following the sunrise service, and then the normal church service at 10:15amCT. There will also be an egg hunt after the service with Easter baskets for all the children.

Cane Valley Christian Church is located at 2250 Cane Valley Road, Columbia, KY. Bro. Godfrey Jackson and congregation invite everyone to attend.

Jean Sanders, 97, Columbia, KY (1924-2022)

Jean Nedra (Adams) Sanders passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 9, 2022, at the University of Louisville Hospital. She was 97 years old.

In lieu of an immediate funeral, the family will soon host a celebration of her life with more details to follow.

Sad word of tragic death of Tom McClendon

Both Russell and Taylor Counties are in mourning at the tragic loss of Tom McClendon, 63, a friend who worked in the area radio industry, and a really good man. He was on his way home to Russell County from Lexington when he was hit head on in Casey County.

Tom started working for Russell Springs radio owners Welby and May Hoover as a teenager while in high school. He worked during college in radio in Bowling Green and then at Q104 in Campbellsville as morning man for years.

Since his retirement from Q104, he has been in charge of Taylor County's July fourth balloon celebration, participating on the board of the state's largest July Fourth parade. He will be missed by so many.

Glen Allen Parnell, 68, Columbia, KY native (1953-2022)

Glen Allen Parnell of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, formerly of Columbia, KY, died Saturday, April 9, 2022 at the Boca Raton Regional Hospital after a brief illness with pancreatic cancer. He was 68 years old.

Glen chose cremation, and a memorial service will be held at 1pmCT on Saturday, April 23, 2022, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Mike Moon officiating.

Visitation is requested after 10amCT on Saturday, April 23, 2022.

KSP: Post 15 investigates fatal collision in Casey Co.

The Kentucky State Police is investigating a two vehicle fatal collision that occurred on April 11, 2022 at approximately 6:13 PM, south of Liberty, on US-127 near Walnut Hill Rd.

Preliminary investigations indicate that Keith McQueary, age 21, of Russell Springs, KY was operating a 2007 Scion passenger car north on US-127 when he lost control of his vehicle and he crossed the centerline and struck a south bound 2008 Mercury passenger car head on.

The Mercury was operated by Tom McClendon, age 63 of Russell Springs, KY.

Governor: Work zones are a sign to slow down

Frankfort, KY - Two words to remember when approaching a highway work zone: Slow down. You could save a life, and it might be your own.

Kentucky last year recorded 1,247 crashes in construction and maintenance/utility work zones. Seven people were killed and 299 injured. Six of the seven fatalities were motorists or their passengers. Those tragic numbers compared with 905 crashes, six fatalities and 228 injuries in 2020.

"The spring and summer months are active construction seasons so you're likely to encounter a work zone on your commute," said Gov. Andy Beshear. "Speeding and driving with distractions compromises safety for both workers and motorists. Whether you're behind the wheel or in one of the work zones, we all have an interest in exercising safe practices on our roadways."

Monday, April 11, kicks off National Work Zone Awareness Week, and the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) is joining other state transportation agencies to promote its importance in saving lives and preventing injuries.

General Fund and Road Fund receipts increase in March 2022

Frankfort, KY - The Office of State Budget Director reported on Monday that March's General Fund receipts continue to be extremely strong, growing 9.0 percent compared to March of last year. Total revenues for the month were $1,040.5 million, compared to $954.8 million during March 2021. Receipts have now grown 13.6 percent for the first nine months of FY22. Growth rates for the three quarters of FY22 have been 20.0, 12.3 and 9.0 percent, respectively.

The official revenue estimate calls for 7.5 percent revenue growth for the fiscal year. To meet the estimate, receipts can decline 7.0 percent over the last three months of FY22.
