Travel: American Falls

2022-03-14 - Niagara Falls, New York - Photo by Graham Waggener.
The American Falls on a cold, snowy day in March, as seen from Goat Island. According to Wikipedia, "The American Falls is the second-largest of the three waterfalls that together are known as Niagara Falls on the Niagara River along the Canada-U.S. border. Unlike the much larger Horseshoe Falls, of which approximately 90% is in Ontario, Canada and 10% in the U.S. state of New York, the American Falls is entirely within the United States."

Power outage, snow storm and time change

Monday's weather will be sunny, warm and calm, you'd never know the weekend freezing, sleet and snow storm happened.

By Linda Waggener

What a weekend - plenty of stress, both expected and unexpected! We experienced a power outage and a snow storm on top of losing an hour in the time change.

As everyone focused on preparations for the predicted snow, power suddenly went out Friday around 6:30pm - just as I was watching news of the tragic war against Ukraine and thinking how easily the blessings we enjoy every day can be taken away.

Power was taken away all over downtown and in New Columbia/Greater Bliss. We have yet to get word about the different parts of the county, news releases from the power companies are expected.
