ACSO: Deputies get technology upgrade The Adair County Sheriff's Office got an upgrade to their equipment this week. Today, Wednesay, August 25, 2021, the installation of computers in all the cruisers was completed by L&W Technology out of Lawrenceburg KY. Each car was equipped with a Panasonic Tough Book, license scanners and printer. This will allow deputies to do a large portion of their work directly from their cars. They will now be able to do electronic citations, accident reports, and case reports without having to drive back to Sheriff's Office to complete them. In addition, they will be able to check and print from E-Warrants, check Courtnet system and complete many other tasks. LWC Prepares to welcome students for Fall 2021 Semester By Venus Popplewell Columbia's population will swell by nearly 25 percent this weekend. That's because more than 1,000 students are expected to move into Lindsey Wilson College residence halls for the 2021-22 school year, adding to the city's more than 4,600 residents. Members of the Class of 2025 will begin moving into the residence halls on the A.P. White Campus at 9amCT, on Saturday morning, August 28, 2021. The rest of the student body will move in beginning at NoonCT on Sunday, August 29. Prior to arriving on campus for the fall 2021 semester, all residential and commuter students are required to complete one of the following: provide a copy of their COVID-19 vaccination; provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test result taken within three days of arrival; or previous positive COVID-19 cases within the last 90 days can submit a release form from their healthcare provider. Lindsey Wilson is not mandating a COVID-19 vaccination for faculty, staff or students but it is strongly encouraged. "We are eagerly awaiting the arrival of our students for the fall," said LWC President William T. Luckey Jr. "Lindsey Wilson fully intends to operate as 'normally' as possible for the upcoming semester while still prioritizing the health and safety of our community. LCDHD COVID-19 Public Information Brief 8-24-2021 By Sam Price Lake Cumberland District Health Department New Cases: We report that our total case count has increased by 262 since our last report. Our new cases (including suspect cases) are as follows: Adair: 28; Casey: 15; Clinton: 4; Cumberland: 4; Green: 15; McCreary: 12; Pulaski: 62; Russell: 33; Taylor: 73; and, Wayne: 16. Our current new case growth rate is: 1.00761. This means our total case count is projected to double every 91.38 days. The most new cases we ever added in a single day was on 08/23/2021 when we added 416 cases. Additionally, out of today's 262 reported cases, 90 of them were in individuals age 18 or younger. Again, we encourage our citizens to take the COVID-19 vaccine, which is safe and very effective. Of our 12,988 new cases since the vaccine started becoming available, almost 95.33% were unvaccinated. Illegal Open Dump Cleanup Grants available Frankfort, KY -. - The Energy and Environment Cabinet's (EEC) Division of Waste Management (DWM) is calling for grant applications for two of its signature programs, illegal dump cleanup and the cleanup of litter along public roads.
