Letter: Memories of George Taylor Finn's store

Phillip Coffey writes:
Love your story about the log barn and cedar rail fences. Sure Mom knew them. Of course I knew George Taylor Finn quite well when he had the Mell store. He fought in WWI. One of his sons told me about 15 years ago that his commander was Captain Harry S. Truman. Tommy Phelps is the son of G.T.F.’s youngest daughter, Virginia Finn Phelps. Mom grew up just down at the bottom of the hill from the store with Virginia.
Re: You meet the nicest people just stopping to ask about a fence - a story that takes us from Mell Ridge through surrounding counties of Metcalfe, Green and Adair, all the way over to Russell County, where those scoundrels burnt down the Jamestown Courthouse.
